They also did a good job of showing good guys from both parties and even showed bad guys on the dem side willing to hold off on passing legislation with bipartisan support so they could attack repubs in the elections.
Yeah, the show was liberal, but it didn't go to the Cartoon Conservative well THAT often. Honestly, the show attacked Blue Dog Dems more than any group, though both Vice Presidents turned into pretty good characters.
But mainly it was a show about people who wanted to do the right thing, and let their ideals guide them. We could use more shows like that, regardless of politics. It was people trying to do good, and the message was that while we don't want to see the sausage get made, public servants are just that.

Favorite scene is when they're all on the way to the press conference where Bartlett's gonna announce his illness... with Brothers In Arms playing, just incredible.

I loved all the episodes when Bartlett was running for re-election.

I like the series to the end but the last season had some plot twists that I didn't find believable.
This is my only real beef with the last season. The events that occurred to produce the outcome of the election just seemed too ridiculous.

Well with John Spencer literally dying in the final episodes, they were originally going to have Vinick win the election, but figured it was too much to have Santos lose his veep and the election, so they changed it after Spencer died.

Best episode to me was the episode where Charlie still owes taxes when he was expecting a big tax return
Also, I need to watch the episode where the govt shuts down. Super relevant.

Of of the GOATs, IMO. We used to watch it in Civics class my senior year of HS at least once a week.

The electoral college map that got Santos elected was beyond ridiculous.

I actually liked when it was the B-plot with Donna, wanting her money back from the surplus.
"Why can't I have my money back."
"Sorry. We're Democrats."

It's a wonderful string of episodes, but I find the idea that Bartlett was electable at that point, incumbent or not, to be pretty absurd.
