Not a big Seth MacFarlane fan but I think American Dad is his most tolerable show.

I think American Dad is great because MacFarlane has little to do with it. He just stepped in, set up a shitty premise for a show and left the writing up to a very talented group. And they somehow turned a shitty premise into a very good show.
