Had they gotten either of those guys would they have taken Sims? Again, hard to say for sure, but doubtful
Come on man, to get one of the top 3 recruits in the nation and some services say the top recruit. You wouldn't offer a guy who is in the top 250 recruits in the nation, and oh by the way is 6'4inches 210lbs big body guy perfect for the red zone pass plays. Give me a break, you do it if that secures the top recruit.

I' don't think any player needs to be loyal to their home state, but they do need to understand the clear advantages of playing and winning at LSU, especially when there's a chance to be part of a special class.
With that being said, there's no better person to promote disloyalty of Louisiana players than the guy who was once the head coach at LSU.
"I left Louisiana, and look how well I'm doing?"-Nicky Saban.

C. Rob made his choice let him live with it. I will wish him no crystal trophy's or SEC c'ships.
Enjoy Bama it sure ain't LSU.

if I was a recruit reading this board I would probably leave state also, due to all the a-holes

The question of loyalty and state pride has come up a lot since C. Robinson has verbally committed to Alabama. What about the coaching staff’s lack of loyalty to in state prospects that are die hard LSU fans and have enough talent to play SEC football but do not get an offer from LSU because the staff has an out of state guy that they like more. Last year, LSU passed up on Noel Ellis from Karr who was an All- American and this year on Sims. Also, what is wrong with getting a quality recruit in the program to help you ensure the future commitments from more highly prized recruits? If offering a scholarship to a very talented DB in Ellis would help with Speedy and Willis, why not offer? If offering a scholarship to a very talented WR in Sims would help with C. Robinson, why not offer?
1) LSU supports and has relationships with Louisiana high schools so it is not a one way relationship. LSU's athletic programs are generally speaking the best & most outstanding representations of Louisiana pride the nation can see. If you are proud of being a Louisiana kid and want to take part in that excellence you will be not only appreciated but loved and adored.
If you want to go to a different part of the country where you will not compete directly with LSU (like Notre Dame or Stanford) most will be sad to lose you but accept your decision. If you choose to go to Alabama when LSU desperately wanted you then you will be viewed as spitting in the face of state pride by many.
2) I understand the feelings of some guys who want to play for LSU but were not offered but if you weren't good enough to get an offer that an out of state kid got then they did you a favor - because that means you weren't going to get on the field.
You were not only not as good as the out of state kids you weren't good enough to beat out the in state talent this year either. That's exactly what happened to Sims. I suspect Sims gets processed at Bama but good luck to him because this year the talent in LA at WR was just too ridiculous to offer a guy who showed poorly at his prior camp and refused to camp again for the LSU coaches

Actually, these are "kids" and I do mean KIDS! If they make their decisions without the strict overview of their parents, then they make their decisions about football just like they do about video games - according to the excitement factor. Outside of a good parent's influence (and many of these kids don't have good parents), these kids make spur-of-the-moment decisions based on the excitement level. The problem occurs when they make a bad decision (and once again don't have a good parent's influence), then pride locks them into that poor decision...and pride can make a mature adult hold on to a dumb decision despite the consequences...much less an immature, poorly-led kid. How many kids who go OOS (from ANY state to ANY school) do you think will go through the grind it takes to change that decision? They are usually ridiculed for being "Mama's boys" or shunned by the very home schools who wished to have them in the 1st place. CR's big effort to look excited about 'Bama yesterday may well have been a big part of convincing himself he was doing the right thing. I, for one, believe that he's gonna miss all the familiar things about Louisiana when the new of Alabama wears off. If you were CR, what would you do then? I'd bet your pride would kick in and you would act like you were a man and gut it out with a grin on your face. You never outgrow your childhood loves...no matter how hard you try to make it look like you have.

These kids are going where they feel they have the best chance of winning a title, getting drafted into the NFL, be on national tv every DAY and making big $'s.
Given the same choice at age 17, it would be ignorant to not go with your gut and instead feel obligated to stay home! If you say you would never consider doing it, you are lying.
Like it or not, you can not deny their success lately. Period!

The No.1 choice in the 2013 NFL Draft was a tackle from....UA, LSU...NO! Central Michigan!!! Eric Fisher, a native of Rochester, Michigan stayed home, played for a SMALL school, & signed a contract worth $22.1 million with a $14.5 million signing bonus. YEP...YOU NEED TO LEAVE YOUR HOME STATE & GO TO ALABAMA IN ORDER TO BE DRAFTED #1 & MAKE THE BIG BUCKS! Any other argument is baloney!

There are exceptions. Don't be a dope.
Posted on 9/5/13 at 7:48 am to Tiger2763
Actually, the "exception" is not that at all. If you followed the NFL, you would discover that they want the best players...will actually invest money in finding the best players...wherever they are. So...they must be dopes, too?

I can't wait until CamR sees how good this OL is this year and for years to come. This years team I'm sure will beat bama, and if we play a near perfect game, I think we beat them good! Mayb just mayb he comes to his senses and decommits just to see more first! It DOES suck to have one if the best OL come out of LA in a long time go to bama!!! On top of that I think the saftey Jones joins them both. It's sad because LSU has it together now and with this deep class we could of mauld bama for years to come! LA is loaded this year and next.... Bama just doesn't have the recruits year in and out to stay with us! They need Florida and Geogia to stay with us! BUT with our own talent committing to them like this, it surly helps them not us! I know we will be fine BUT it's just crazy how these kids want to play out of state instead of their own home school..... On top of that a top flight school!!! Anyway hope this is the last one and I really do think Les hireing of Cam Cam... Will put a stop to almost all of this nonsense about LSU and opens the eyes of not only our instate guys but OOS too!!!! I can most def see Cali and Texas QBs knocking the door down to come play for the Tigers and with a great QB the big OL will want to block for them..... And so on...... CamR...... This just wasn't a good move for you my man and you will see this soon!!!! Sorry but it's not!!!! Bama's OL looked terrible and they had to hold onto AJ risk an injury after all he's done for that school to even look any kind of good this year!!!! Saban doesn't care about players bra only about his name and winning..... That's a fact!!!! If I'm CamRs Dad I'm just wouldn't agree with this because of that fact!!! Come back home big man, where people give a damn about you!

It's always interesting to come to this board after LSU fails to get a recruit they and the fans really wanted. Sadly, many comments show just how pathetic some people are to get genuinely upset about where a 17-18 kid decides to go to school. I'm an LSU fan, and I'd love nothing more than to see my alma mater get the best recruits in the country and put the best team on the field year in and year out. However I see posters (not the OP) angrily lashing out at a kid because HE chose to go out of state to play football. Some posters argue that LA kids somehow are supposed to be "loyal" to their home-state, and therefore MUST attend LSU. At the end of the day it's that kid's life, and that kid's decision alone. While as a fan I'm dissapointed when a good player choose any school over LSU, I will never fault or lash out at a kid for deciding to go to school where he wants.

I don't like the fact the kids go on TV and rub our nose in it .
IF I have a problem with any of this, THIS is it.
I'm cool with them going somewhere else, if they're cool that they're dead to me after that. But don't make a point of doing THIS. Just commit and be gone.

Interesting that the idea that Jones going to Bama to join Sims and CRob was beyond belief not too long ago! I basically got laughed at for mentioning that not offering Ellis would make A&M an option for Speedy.
Once again, I AM NOT Ellis's dad! I'm from the New Orleans area and enjoy going to high school football games. Talking to the fans at Karr games, I'm not surprised that these guys went elsewhere. The coaches have to remain loyal to these recruits who are on the cusp of elite to ensure we lock down the state. Even Curtis fans (and coach Curtis) are turned off by LSU not offering Young early on. When MD is on the line, why would you not offer an All American linebacker?
LSU will finish with a good class but the lesson learned is that there has to be a more strategic approach to recruiting instate talent.
