There are only so many recruits LSU can take.
Offering Sims would not have guaranteed Cam...Period.
He seems to have been turned to the dark side long ago.
When LSU starts taking lesser recruits they will no longer be the Elite program they are..
As much as it would make you feel warm and fuzzy to take lesser recruits it just isn't feasible to keep the program where it is.
Bottom line: they are no Sure Things in recruiting..Only what you recruiting geniuses think there are...leave it to the experts..
Are you Noel's dad?

Naw, man not at all. I was just looking at recruiting as strategic. It seems to have worked for Alabama in offering Sims and then landing Robinson.

I am not downing the coaches for their recruiting. Last year's class was great! I am just thinking those conversations about players relationships to other players have to happen.

Sometimes just when we think we have it figured out we realize we don't have all the facts....

I can't see how anybody who would claim to have grown up a LSU fan would do anything with an Alabama scholarship other than tell them to stick it up their asses. That being said, we can't expect to have it both ways. I won't blast a kid for not being loyal to his home state when I can think of at least a few OOS recruits (Clifton Garrett and Tony Brown come to mind) who I can't wait to tell their home schools "Thanks, but no thanks. I'm going to LSU."

Different when it's a la. kid going to Bama or a Michigan kid going to Ohio St.... it's the rivalry thing...but I don't care what I'm offered cars houses $$$ I would never betray a state school and go to its rival of all places

but I doubt that A&M would be as much of a factor if Ellis was not there right now.
There is really no way to prove that one way or the other, but I suspect Kevin Sumlin and the A&M staff and the success they had last year have a lot more to do with it than Ellis. His Uncle comes across as extremely bitter LSU did not offer, running down a school because of a perceived slight is not the best recruiting tactic.

Completely agree, nevilletiger79. Hopefully the other guy from your area (Hootie) shares that sentiment.

Like I said earlier today...I know hootie as well as I know diarse... with exception of going to Bama camps/scrimmage I've not seen the Bama interest by him. He was at tcu game sitting with numerous LSU recruits...get wears LSU gear frequently and goes to BR every time there is an camp or recruiting event...

Because the 2 commitments came so close together and Robinson said Sims decision influenced him, it's easy to say that it worked for Alabama. But the reality is Alabama pursued and missed on Ermon Lane and Dupre. They needed a WR. Had they gotten either of those guys would they have taken Sims? Again, hard to say for sure, but doubtful.
Robinson has been leaning toward Bama for a long time Sims may have pushed him over the edge, but as others pointed out Sims showed no interest in coming to any LSU camps after a poor showing in 2012.

that happens a lot, remember where our coach went to college? Know where he grew up?
The Saban factor is what makes this different. In the 90's I think we understood a kid going to FSU or Miami over LSU. But going to Bama, that I'll never get. I'd rather see my kids join the Taliban, but maybe that's just me.

I know it happens a lot but that Michigan kid and family gets abused

These "Top Prospects" need to get over themselves. There are just as many great players outside the ridiculous ESPN 300. LSU does not want players who have some kind of sense of entitlement simply because they are highly rated. I would take a humble player who is coachable. Look at DJ Chark committed to LSU already, he is 6'1" 176 and runs a 4.45 40yrd. Athletically speaking, he is a mirror image of Speedy who is 6'0" 176 and runs a 4.45 40yrd. I think Speedy is probably more college ready and would probably play early, where as DJ Chark is probably going to need half a season or 1 whole season to get up to speed. I am just using Speedy as an example here. We still want you to join LSU buddy.
However, any of the Top Prospects from Louisiana that are going to other schools, prepare to have your arse handed to you by LSU. Now that we have the final piece to the puzzle with Cam Cameron, LSU will be the team going to National Championships every year...

IDK, I'm sure its happened, the difference there is they are border states and UM is very close to the border. If say Butch Davis was coaching Alabama and got a La kid we would not be nearly as pissed off.

Jameis Winston went on national tv and committed to Florida state. He's a bama kid. Goes both ways man. Chill
Jameis also knows Saban can't develop QBs worth a shite. They play in the system and are a lost cause in the pros. He's also seen how black QBs have developed under Saban at Bama.

The question of loyalty and state pride has come up a lot since C. Robinson has verbally committed to Alabama. What about the coaching staff’s lack of loyalty to in state prospects that are die hard LSU fans and have enough talent to play SEC football but do not get an offer from LSU because the staff has an out of state guy that they like more. Last year, LSU passed up on Noel Ellis from Karr who was an All- American and this year on Sims. Also, what is wrong with getting a quality recruit in the program to help you ensure the future commitments from more highly prized recruits? If offering a scholarship to a very talented DB in Ellis would help with Speedy and Willis, why not offer? If offering a scholarship to a very talented WR in Sims would help with C. Robinson, why not offer
You are preaching to the choir, loyalty and respect has to go both ways!!!
