wasn't trying to be funny. I was just stating a fact.
Ok, but why did you choose that particular fact when discussing events in the upset win on the road in "The Game of the Century" in which he outcoached the best coach in the country in LSU's only undefeated SEC Championship season in over 50 years.
Why throw out the fact that makes him look silly? If you were trying to be funny, that would be one thing. It was quite a funny moment. But the fact that you automatically go to the one negative from such a historically great night in LSU's history is the reason you're a joke on this board to many
I guess it's obvious from your name why you didn't throw out a fact like he also had to overcome his starting quarterback completely shitting the bed and looking like a freshman dumpster fire again, so he had to turn to his backup QB, who wasn't very good either, and still managed to patiently brawl his way to an upset road win against perhaps the best defense of all time and the best coach in the country.
Yeah, better to go with the trip and fall after the run out of the tunnel entrance that we all love so much as your takeaway fact from the game

Voters/media screwed Ok State out of the opportunity they deserved (as they showed in beating a quality Stanford team). Prior to their bowl games people didn't expect Florida to beat tOSU in 2006, Texas to beat an all time great 2005 USC team, or tOSU to beat an all time great Miami team in 2002.
You just can't know unless the games are played and it sucks for Ok State their coach was too young and dumb to understand how to campaign
Exactly. It really is a shame.
I've always believed and argued that the BCS was created to ensure that conference bowl tie ins would not prevent the opportunity for the best teams to play each other. LSU and Bama had already played. The BCS system was not needed to provide that matchup.
The system was designed to protect a Big 12 Champion OSU from being stuck in the Fiesta while SEC Champion LSU was tied to the Sugar.
OSU had the #2 offense in the country (better than Oregon), and didn't get a chance to prove their worth against LSU's great D the way Ohio State did against one of the best CFB teams of all time in Miami in 02, VY did against another all time great team in USC in 05, and Florida did in 06 against Ohio State. It truly is a shame.
frick Tracy Wolfson and CBS for asking that question just seconds after the game ended.
I fully believe if Miles had time to consider the ramifications of his answer he would have said something like "That's a long way away, we have several games left against great teams, and there are several great programs around the country that would love to earn the right to play the SEC Champion in a great game like tonight. I'm focused on making sure that the team representing the SEC will be wearing purple and gold and we took a big step toward that goal tonight in a game that I think should be an instant classic. Now we're gonna go play our asses off the next few weeks!! "
Love me some Les Miles, but I really think his spontaneous attempt at a respectful answer to an unfair question kept the door open for Bama, and Saban and ESPN ran through it.
If he coach speaked it instead of talking from the heart in a very emotional moment, OSU is in New Orleans on 1/9 imo. It's the biggest mistake of his LSU career imo bar none.

No, he wouldn't have. In the final voting before the polls Miles voted the gumps #2, proving that he's a dumbass that has had more golden horseshoes falling out of his arse than most are willing to admit.

He also fell down running on the field and another time he ran to wrong sideline.
Thought that was the same game during the Oregon game.

So what??? He would have been blasted by the media as scared if he didn't.
It wasn't voters putting Bama #2 that put them in the NCG. It was the sketchy arse voters that put OSU at #4, 5, or 6 that gave Bama the bump it needed to get a rematch.
I don't have a problem with anyone thinking Bama was the #2 team that December. But anyone putting OSU lower than 3 or MAYBE 4 was clearly trying to manipulate the polls to arrange a rematch.
I don't blame Miles one bit for putting Bama #2. We needed OT to beat them. They were a worthy #2 team on a ballot.
But OSU had the computer advantage and would have jumped Bama into the NCG as the BCS was intended to do had several ethically questionable voters not purposely screwed OSU to ensure Bama would benefit.
But thanks for showing your lack of understanding of the system. Clearly you may need to reevaluate your use of the word "dumbass" when throwing it around at people like Miles who is more respected and successful than you could ever hope to be

I do blame Miles. Two voters would have made the difference and he was one of them.
Bama and the SEC showed no respect to LSU for having won the division as well as the conference. Bama won neither of them, so they shouldn't have been voted number 2 by Miles. This year Miles is talking about Bama's weak schedule. Funny how he didn't notice their schedule was weak that year as well.
Miles was the coach at Oklahoma State before he came to LSU. They had a difficult schedule with their one loss being on the road the day of a tragedy at their university. It was an OT loss for them but hey, Miles showed he didn't care about his former employer or what that team went through. He honored Bama.
The worst for me regarding Miles was seeing how LSU played on 1/9. He wasn't prepared for that game and said "I didn't see it coming."
Only a blind man would not have seen that coming and prepared for it so poorly as we saw in the coaching execution of the game.

I'm enjoying the best run in LSU's history. Loving it actually. You should give it a shot sometime.
Way to not respond to anything in my post btw, as usual
And I said in my post, Miles' response was a huge mistake. Worst mistake of his tenure.

Good post. I can completely respect everything you said now that you explained your position.
I still don't blame Miles though. Bama was arguably the #2 team for sure.
And I'm not sure your two votes statement is accurate. Do you have a link for that? I'm pretty sure it was like 5 or 6.

Correct on all points. No matter how good the performance was to get to the NC game Les looked utterly clueless and unprepared to lead the team in a game he certainly should have "seen coming." People can say let it go all they want but is anyone sure enough to put money on it never happening again? From the 2007 Arky game to the abortion on 1/9 Les has shown a knack for losing his grip when things are going really well.
I hope we get a chance for him to prove me wrong.
