We got tickets but I've never been there.

Any suggestions for good places to stay would be greatly appreciated! Also if anyone knows of good bar and grill places.

TIA

I am not familiar with Athens, but just wanted to let you know that I am jealous as hell!....

I hear Athens is one of the best places in the SEC to visit...

I highly doubt you will find anything in Athens at this point.

Heard the Parthenon is pretty cool to visit, not sure where to stay though. When I was in Athens, ga I stayed at the courtyard Marriott, it was nice, had access to desperate rooms from the parking lot and mini fridges

LOL, I hope you're not serious in trying to find a place in Athens for the game this late.

The tickets were just given to me yesterday. It's worth a shot.

Good luck finding a place so late. Comfort Inn had a room available about 6 weeks ago for the low, low asking rice of $295 a night.

Thanks!

I know it's at the last minute but like I said, the tickets were given to me yesterday by a friend who has had season tickets forever, they can't get to the UGA game because of family stuff.

I have to try!

Athens is the best town in the SEC, but good Lord you can't be seriously looking for a place to stay there this close to the game? You'll be in Atlanta, get to know the Buckhead bars.

It's worth it. Something will pop up. Laurenceville is like 40 min away towards ATL and they have rooms there I believe. Try that

Still a good hour and a half at minimum on gameday.

Athens is the best college town you will ever visit. Unfortunately there are not many places to stay though. Last few times I have been I ended up staying in Atlanta and getting a bus to Athens.

Lived in Lawrenceville since 1998, never once has it take an hour and a half on a gameday to get to Athens. MAX 45 minutes, especially with the new construction done to 316. Lawrenceville/Duluth are good inexpensive places to stay. Winder, GA isn't too far as well as Gainesville, GA.

How convenient is it using the bus from ATL to Athens? I will be staying in ATL for the Georgia game I was wondering if you could give me some details on this?

Thanks

Get a room in the Lawrenceville, Duluth Area near I-85. There are several courtyards by Marriott that are about an hour's drive from Athens, possibly more on game days. Or any other hotel in the area along I-85 in that area. You'll save a ton of money by doing this and then have a straight shot back home if you're driving.

I've just moved back to Nola after living in that area for 10 years, so I'm giving you some good advice.

Having lived in the Atlanta/Duluth area for 10 years, Athens is a great town but it is completely boring compared to the LSU campus on game days. Not even close!!!
