Will the "market" ever abolish cupcake games?

Been a season ticket holder from 1998-2012. Last year went halfsies with a friend. I left BR and going to every game is now impossible. When I saw the 2014 schedule, I am now inclined to relinquish my tickets and just scalp for the 3 or so games I want to go to each year. This is 100% due to the cupcake games. Why pay all this money for Sam Houston state, New Mexico State, etc?
I am a firm believer that if I did relinquish my tickets going into 2014, whoever buys them will also quickly get sick of spending all this money for three home cupcake games.
So my question is, do you think the market will soon come into effect such that LSU will need to schedule better home games (non conference of course) ???

Actually a pretty good point.

Unfortunately I don't think so, too much interest.

I know we all wish they'd just go away

Not saying I disagree, but I find it kinda funny that LSU fans bitch about how hard the schedule is, then bitch about the cupcake schedule.
Should we play AT Sam Houston State?

No, the tickets for the SEC games are worth too much, and the easiest and cheapest way to get those is by being a season ticket holder.

The 2014 home slate is boycot worthy.

That's not true at all. Face value tix are always available. But even if you pay over face you will likely be under season ticket price
But guaranteed seat location has a value

No they will not, mainly because not every teir 1 or teir 2 program would want to play you and with the playoff system coming out soon. The weaker the schedule the BETTER for your team.
In NFL terms, the weaker your schedule you have for your team the happier the fanbase. That is the direction we are headed in so one might say we need to load up on cup cakes.
Tough scheduling only get you respect NOT trophies.

Bitching about the hard schedule has nothing to do with the rent a wins.

most season tkts are business write offs. the cupcakes are ggod giveaways for business, then make a big profit off sec schedule!

Alleva has no spine.
I'm glad I'm going to be able to get the A&M game in this year. I'll just preface that by saying I've never made an Arkansas game because of the timing.

If you play a highly charged up Non Conference Schedule I am afraid by the end of the year you going to be running low on Gas. Even when I played in High School those games were kind of relaxing and you also got some rest not playing the entire game. The big Conference Games to me were really draining. The preparation was intense, the fans were intense. You were just ready for it to be over. I think if you play a big Non Conference Game then the next week at your SEC Game you are going to be flat. It is difficult to play at a high level every week!!

Nope. That stadium fits 90,000 people. There are waaaaaay more than 90,000 people that want to attend an LSU football game. As long as the number of people that want to attend outstrips the number of seats, market pressure won't compel LSU to do anything different.

The "market" will abolish average joe from any games when tix are upwards of $1000
There, I vented.... Now cupcake games? I have no idea

I think the complaint is not so much the easy schedule, but the cost for that schedule. It is a "why pay full price" for a NFL pre-season game kind of argument.

Well, the cost of the rent-a-win games is cheaper than the SEC games...$70 vs $40.
But, no, "the market" will never force LSU to stop playing these games. People would have to stop buying season tickets for that to happen, and there is no sign of that happening anytime soon.

And when we schedule all bcs opponents and lose 2 home games, everyone gets fired. Am i right?
If you don't like it give up your tickets, because someone will gladly take them.

No, b/c Bama would have to schedule real games and the NCAA is not going to stand for that.
