Good idea or am I asking for pain?
I have a feeling the ammo will be pricey.

I wouldn't want to shoot that thing. You'd have to be a hoss to hang on to it.

It's actually not bad to shoot but not a good choice for carry bc you probably won't be able to shoot it as well as 9mm. Not to mention ammo cost and selection aren't spectacular.
I owned one for a few years but that was in my collecting phase.

That's what I've heard.
Does it have more arse than something like a Defender Compact .45?

Yes, 10mm is a very hot cartridge

When selecting a Glock for carry you should always take into account the thickness of the gun. That is the real factor that may make carrying it uncomfortable.
As for shooting it, I've only shot one 10mm before so I may not have enough knowledge to give an informed opinion.

Good point.
Basically, i want a weapon that is comfortable but makes sure that you are the only one who gets to tell the story should you need to skin it.

Well, as previously stated, you have to compromise when it comes to CC. If you want to carry something with a higher capacity, you'll suffer in terms of comfort due to the bulk of the gun itself.
If it is to be a dedicated concealed carry piece, I would get something with a single stack magazine. While some guys may scoff at this, to the average person, the tradeoff in carrying a doulestack pistol and losing comfort isn't worth carrying all the time and discourages consistent carrying. What is the point of owning a concealed carry gun and getting licensed if you don't plan on carrying?
Is this your first handgun? Or your first concealed carry gun?

both. Kinda.
i had a standard issue Beretta when I was in the army.
I'd prefer something larger than 9mm, personally.
I have some experience with a 1911 but it wasn't something that I carried daily. Io liked it but the price for a good one is a bit steep.
I found a new 29SF for 569 at the local gun store.

Consistent or persistent?

When you're carrying concealed anything will be a compromise. I prefer to carry a 9mm because you get the highest capacity possible.
Check out some of my videos on my YouTube channel, especially First Time Firearm Buyers. Maybe you'll find some useful info to help limit down your choices.

I want one cause shooting loud booms makes me giggle. Every time I shoot my cousins 44mag I laugh like Hickok. I just can't shoot it all day like a 9mm.
