I may have to officially hand over my BGE/mancard...
I STILL am having troubles. I used 3 lighters tonight where I normally would only use 1.
Explain exactly how you light your egg please, I have given up all hope and respect for myself.

Did you try different lump??
I use the cardboard cube things too. I dig a little "pit" in the middle of the lump and light the cube and drop it in then cover it up with lump without putting the fire out. leave vent and dome wide open for 7-10 min then close dome leaving vents open. adjust when you start getting 50-75 degrees from where you want

I'd say you have bad/wet lump or the bottom is full of ash.
