Ponyo is my least favorite Miyazaki film, so no.
Yeah, it's basically just repackaged Little Mermaid. It's okay, but not even close to his top 5.

I always watch the original language. I started watching Mononoke dubbed cause I d/l the wrong one and I couldn't take it. I went and got the original and it was alot different. They change a bunch of dialogue and the voice acting is almost always a step down.
I've seen both of Miyazaki's versions of most his films. I typically prefer the dubs. Miyazaki himself said he'd rather us listen to the dubs due to the fact that when we're reading, we're not paying attention to his art.
And out of all the dubs, Mononoke is the best one and I honestly think its better than the original Japanese. It's the best dub of all time and does so seamlessly.

No. It's not.
They are two separate takes on the classic.
As for subs vs. dubs, dubs are better cause you can watch it...plus they sure do get some big actors to voice the characters.

I know it's probably considered more of a "kid's movie" but My Neighbor Totoro always has a special place for me. It was one of the first Anime I watched when my daughter was young. And it just seems to have a more whimsical magical feel. Princess Mononoke is an excellent movie but in a whole different way.

Totoro and Mononoke are complete opposites, so I understand what you're saying. Ironically when Totoro was first released, it was release as a double feature. It's second act: the Grave of the Fireflies. That's so fricked up on so many levels I don't know where to start.

As I said, repackaged Little Mermaid. I was referring to the story not the Disney film. It's one of his least original and interesting films.

Yeah, that still blows my mind since the first time I saw you post that.

Completely agree

Incredible animation. Makes you realize that traditional animation can still compete with computer animation if it is artistically ambitious enough...

Redline Trailer
The story isn't deep or anything, but the animation and action is top notch. Intense the whole way through.
ETA: It isn't a kid's show so this is kinda a hijack.

The animation may be the best ever put to film and challenges the medium as a whole.
I still hold that Akira is far and away the best animation after put on film, but Spirited Away is absolutely brilliant.

Ehh, Akira is good, but it doesn't come close to when Haku and Chihiro are walking through the flower garden.

IMO, the biker gang scene in the remastered Akira is better, but to each their own.

One of my absolute favorite movies I will watch it everytime its on.
There is another animation style movie that caught my eye but now I cant find it or know its title...It has a young girl/lady with a wolf who is helping a village with the help of a warrior against giants and wierd creatures
Mononoke hime..found it
guess I should have looked above

No way. Nausicaa all the way.
I'm a nausicaa nut. I even have all the models from movie.
If you ever read the 1500!!! page manga nausicaa is based off you'd agree with me.
Nausicaa manga is better than Dune. Yeah I said that.

I haven't read the magna, but to me Nausicaa is Mononoke Light. Mononoke just does everything so much better than Nausicaa. Better animation, better characters, better themes, better romance. I still haven't read the Magna, but just the movies, it's no contest.

Nausicaa is definitely my favorite as well. Followed closely by Castle in the Sky. Am I the only one that digs that one? I like the story a lot.
I have seen all of the others listed and they all have a special place on my list. Princess Mononoke is definitely up there.
