I'm looking for a good speck/red rod, 7ft or 7.6ft medium action. I saw some Waterloo Rods at academy, but don't know much about them. Any suggestions?

I'm telling you dude, everybody going to suggest what they have. Some ar eold as shite and really don't know what they're missing with some of the new rods coming out now.
My favorite right now is the Abu Garcia Veritas microguide rod.Thing is a freaking beast on the Causeway hauling up those big trout.

In depth review.

Obviously, as mentioned previously, everyone will be just recommending what they currently have.

A few of the spinning rods I own:
St. Croix Mojo Inshore
Shimano Teramar
TTF Gundog
Hurricane Calico Jack
Cabela's Tourney Trail IM6

The TTF and Hurricane stay on the rack as backups- not a fan of the TTF's Stainless guides (the sound of the braid running across them is aggravating) and the Hurricane's reel seat doesn't tighten down well.

Out of them all, the best bargain rod would be the Cabela's Tourney Trail- I have one and I bought my son one as well; good action, solid rods. I broke one a couple weeks back and just went into Cabela's and exchanged it for a new one, no questions asked.

The St. Croix is a ML, but has a great backbone- I have caught reds up to 32" on it without issue. Not completely sold on the split grip design, but it's not bad.

Can't go wrong with the Shimano either- the Medium I have has become my go to rod for topwaters and jerkbaits. I'd buy another.

Hope that helps. I have tried the Abu Garcia Vendetta- a stiffer medium action rod than most- but I returned it after noticing the tip was cracked, so I wasn't able to try it out on the water.

Seriously...look at the Powell endurance 775. Heavy cranking, bigger fish, long casts...it's worth every penny. $160

I bought a nice St. Croix from Gus tackle in Slidell the other day...a good rod makes all the difference...
