Did they actually move W. Smith to DE?

Was reading this article on Nola.com and they slipped this little nugget in there:
Is it possible that CSP and RR realized what we all knew and corrected the mistake of having him at OLB, or is this just wishful thinking on my part?

Finally, the Saints' tried a play-action pass on the final play, but Brees threw incomplete under heavy pressure from defensive end Will Smith (who got around left tackle Charles Brown).

Neat, he can be our third string DE.

Maybe I should be even more worried, because how bad is Brown if will smith can get past you to generate immense pressure?
I kid... Kind of.

I think you are reading too hard.

I'm bored at work and probably am reading way too hard. I think the o-line wont be our problem. My biggest worry is the d-line and LBs. If the OLBs can generate pass rush, then everything else on D will be good to go.

Eh. I wouldn't read much into it. He put his hand in the dirt in our four man fronts Friday.
Some think he could be an asset there, and while I think that suits him better than olb, I'm having trouble find a DE on the roster I'd pick over him.
Jordan and Hicks are starters. Walker and Foster are disruptive, and then you have Tom Johnson. Who would you cut?

Based on the video highlights posted earlier from Monday's practice, looks like he's still standing up at OLB.

I think our DL will ball, personally.

I agree. Jordan is becoming a very good player and 3-4 DE is his natural position. Bunkley is strong enough to play the NT spot and hopefully Jenkins can develop to be a nice compliment. Hicks should do very very well as a 3-4 DE.
If anything, the LBers (besides Lofton and Junior) should be the biggest worry. With safeties a close second.

You're starting Outside Nose Tackle:

Good Lord that was awful.

I kinda feel sorry for him.
Posted on 8/13/13 at 10:38 am to OldSouth
I don't. We've paid him plenty, and no one made him not take care of himself.

dude had to cover both a tight end and top scat back in the league. chill out homie.

I'm talking about the shape he's in, not that he couldn't make the play. There were other plays where he was a down linemen, would follow the running back to the outside, but couldn't contain. It's years of being out of shape catching up with him.

are you saying after like 8 or 9 years of NFL Training and Strength and Conditioning, that he is in worse shape than where he started out at?

Same thing I was thinking after the 1st game. I'd put him at DE over OLB any and every day, but there have been better guys already on the team at the DE spot this offseason.
