Do you think Fox Sports 1 can really compete with ESPN?

If so, how long do you think it will take for the two networks to be equals?
What does Fox Sports 1 have to do to make that happen?
Live NFL or NBA games? Big-time college football games?

It will probably take a while, but if they're aggressive with their bids on contracts for live sports I could see them threatening ESPN.

That will probably take a while based on the amount of contracts ESPN has compared to Fox.

Fox will have this.
I'm anxious to see how the Canadians do on their highlight show. I don't watch SportsCenter at all anymore, but I'm going to give the Fox show a shot.

well, it will have my undivided attention so ESPN is losing at least 1 veiwer

I think they can, but for me it'll come down to the games they show... the rest is just noise.
Also, their formatting for broadcasts nees to be appealing... when Fox Network had the BCS games, their product was sh*t compared to ABC/ESPN... IMO, ESPN does a better job with their MLB production than Fox currently does

The quality of the broadcasts was upped significantly over the last couple years. Both the production value and the matchups were much better than they used to be. Most of the time I found myself watching the 11am (CST) on FX instead of on ESPN while waiting for the SEC game at 230.

No. No one beats Disney.

No, but I think the more competition you throw at ESPN the more you can chip away at it.

They are replacing the Speed channel. I'll bet most people don't even know that channel exists.
No chance at competing with ESPN.

Yeah. The combo of Fox, NBC, and CBS is what it's going to take. CBS still needs to expand their distribution though.

I vividly remember not having espn2 and when did get it no ididea where it was.
Speed was niche. Fox will appeal it to all sports. Will make a name for itself

It doesn't matter how many people know the Speed channel exists. It only matters how many people know that Fox Sports 1 exists. And with them running commercials on Big Fox and all their regional channels, they're getting that info out there in front of the eyeballs that matter.

People that don't think Fox Sports will inevitably turn exactly into ESPN don't understand how ratings and advertising revenues work. And last I checked the FOX Corporation has no problems pandering to the LCD.
