I've been predicting for months he wouldn't finish the season with A&M. Looks like he may not even start it.

Who didn't see this coming?

Is the NCAA is going to suspend him this season OR will they suspend him X amount of games and make him pay the money back?

TAM should really consider not playing him until they figure out what exactly has transpired since his last game. They don't need major infractions in their first few years of SEC pla

What does A&M risk by playing him? Forfeiting wins?

Correct me if I'm wrong but unless the NCAA can establish a link btw Manziel and a coach/booster they can't punish A&M on the current allegations right?

And if they can establish said link then the damage is already done.

They have to prove this happened. The burden of proof lies with the NCAA.

Awesome, but I didn't ask you to defend the rule ell.

What happens if he makes money off his autograph?

In this single case, he's ruled ineligible.

But from the NCAA "official" perspective, if student-athletes are allowed to profit from anything that associates them with their status as an athlete, it would open the floodgates. Boosters/schools could promise to "purchase" signatures/memorabilia from recruits causing free-for-all bidding wars on high school athletes.

Forfeit games, loss of scholarships, loss of bowl legibility, etc ala Ohio State with the athletes selling memorabilia and profiting off of it. If they know he's guilty of NCAA violations, they have a responsibility to report it and deal with the consequences. I'm not an expert by any means, but one can never predict what the NCAA will do. All I'm saying is that they are now in the premier conference and have the best future in college football in the football factory of America. They're not risking their future for a prick that doesn't even want to attend class on campus.

If they can prove it, if they can't what happens then? Nothing.

Aka it would end the sham of amateurism the NCAA wants to perpetuate and profit off of.

Some huge change isn't what I'm expecting though. I acknowledge the fact that if the NCAA can prove this allegation he will probably be ruled ineligible. I'm simply hoping the NCAA fails to do so.

You asked for worse case scenario. Obviously, the NCAA could take 8 months looking under stones and not find a thing that sticks.

Right, so like I said the NCAA has to prove a link btw Maziels "violations" and A&M. At Ohio St. the link was Jim Tressel and his knowledge. Absent that link though I don't think scholarships bowls probation etc is on the table.

If that link does exist for A&M then playing Manziel this season won't change anything.

If they can only prove he took money this offseason, how can the school/team be punished? Only if he's ruled ineligible and actually plays will the team have to forfeit those games. So unless the NCAA can make a ruling in the next three weeks ( ), keeping him off the field could save some wins and bowl eligibility this year and possibly bowl games and scholarships in the future.

I understand they might have to forfeit wins but absent a ruling that A&M knew or should have known Manziel was violating NCAA rules how is A&M at risk of losing bowl games and and scholarships in the future?

The NCAA rules that USC/ Todd McNair knew about Reggie Bush and should have done something.

Also most everyone acknowledges that the NCAA hit USC for not cooperating with the investigation as much as anything else.
