Just because Traitors are not welcomed back in La and are universally hated
Still pisses me off.

Laman is owning this thread.

lsusteve1 summed it up nicely--no other big time program in LA. The LA top rated players obviously are not forced to go to LSU, or even obligated to have "need to go to LSU mentality" as the opening post suggests, but at this time, Tulane, LA Tech, etc. are not programs that will have teams regularly ranked in the top 25 in any pre-season poll, like LSU is, even though the Tigers are rated a bit lower pre-season this year than we are used to seeing.

So many hurtful words in this thread. Here are some ways to become more politically correct in the recruiting "process" and make football more civil.
We should drop the words 'Instate-Recruits' and 'Out-of-State Recruits' from our vocabulary. Regional, Southern, National, and the state the recruit comes from should not be mentioned. Just use 'recruit'.
All attempts should be made to erase any prejudices in the recruiting of athletes. Each should feel universal love from all fan bases no matter which peogram he (or she) choses.
At the beginning of each game, players should enter the field with a 'Home" player and a 'Visitor' player holding hands and should hug each other at mid-field.
Fans should stand up and applaud the other team when that team makes a good play.
Any player who uses more force than necessary to make a play should immediately be sent to time out, think about what he did, apologize, hug the offended player, re-enter the game and play with less hurtful intent.
Let us bring civility to the recruiting process and all football. The first step could be the introduction of civility on the Recruiting Board.
Any high-profile, in-state prospect LSU is recruiting, who graduates from a high school in Louisiana and goes to a major opponent, knows he is considered "Tiger Bait". He understands the consequences and the bridges that are burned forever. That is likely to never change regardless of any efforts people make to be 'politically' correct. Right or wrong, his decision to bypass LSU for say an Alabama or Florida will have lasting consequences.
Recruits have the right to chose any school he or she wishes, but there are consequences to that decisions.

Exactly. If Robinson or fournette go to bama, I will personally give them a hug, pack their bags for them, and wish them well on their journey.
If fournette and cam end up at bama, I will be furious. it might be the last straw for me. It will become all to obvious and college football will be dead to me. It's bad enough as it is.

What is the point of even starting a thread like this. It's an LSU recruiting board. Presumably, we all think LSU is the best place for a kid to play. If you disagree, why are you even here?

Thanks. Have had a horrible workload lately and with my grandmother sick, it's been absolutely brutal. Don't take anything I say out of context. I am very happy with this class

When did I ever say I disagreed? Huh?

Well, look at the top recruits from the state of Alabama; I don't see where any are even considering LSU at all...Yeah, Louisiana's top recruits should look at that and be smart about their recruitment.

Sorry, I didn't see where any of the top 5 recruits from Alabama have us listed in their final 5; I think I was looking at ESPN....

quote:With all due respect to your last statement, many of the top Alabama recruits may not be listing LSU in their top 5 THIS year, but much of that has to do with the amount of talent within our own border. I know that RB had LSU in his top 5 before he committed to Auburn. I doubt LSU was pushing for him that hard though since they are putting most of their chips on landing Fournette. Jamarcus Russell was from Alabama, and just last year LSU pulled one of the top linebackers out of the state. They think about LSU too...trust me. They just face the same pressures to stay home over there as the kids do here. Probably worse!
