At the risk of sounding like a wimpy Canadian I was wondering which Sections at Tiger Stadium are the best / worst for shade for an afternoon game in September? Also would there be any shade in the lower sections of the East side (301 - 305)? I know some other topics touched on this but I'm hoping for a bit more info.

Now excuse me I need to go shovel the snow in my driveway.

Not sure about shade but the upper deck seats are horrible and I'd rather watch on tv than sit up there. I guess the west side of the bowl gives you share once the sun starts setting.

The East side gets baked with the sun. The West side is deff the side to be on for day games.

My season tickets are in the 300s, lower bowl east side. In September, you're staring into the sun until early Q4. A full house makes it seem even hotter. No wind to speak of in the lower bowl, either. If you're not born into it, this kind of heat can ruin your experience in TS. Drink a quart of Gatorade before you go into TS. Wear a hat, sun glasses, sunscreen, light clothing, bring a bandana to wipe sweat, stay hydrated with Tiger Water. See ya.

At least in the east upper, you get the hot breath of God (3 mph warm breeze) on occasion.

East sideline (with the sun beating on you) and the south endzone (combination sun/too many people in a small space) are the equivalent of a Guatemalan prison for a September day game.

I love it, too. Hot, miserable and a little tipsy is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Plus, it makes you appreciate that first cool breeze in October that much more.

I used to sit at the top of the student section for day games. You'd catch the breeze blowing over the bowl. No air, and I mean no air, moves at the bottom when its full.

Edit: this is when I was a student. I always preferred the North endzone

Day Games in TS.

Maybe a late season S.E.C. game where it's dark in the third quarter. Other wise, it aint happnin.

The Ole Miss game last year was the first day game I've attended since the Notre Dame game back in the 80's. Everybody was asleep (Including the LSU Defense) until the nocturnal aspects of the say started to unfold. Instant Magic.

Don't let them scare you. The sunny side isn't that bad. If you're in good health and stay hydrated, you won't have a problem. I sit in the northeast corner of the lower bowl, which is in the sun when everything else is shady. I rarely see anyone affected by the heat. Bring sunglasses and enjoy yourself. It'll be fine.

Canadian, eh? Don't even think about trying the East side for an afternoon game in September. It is literally a frying pan.

If you sit in the East Upper you need sunglasses the thickness of welder's glasses to see the game.

O gee.sounds like a wonderful experience to recommend.Lets see:
need welder glasses.
drink lots of water (at $6 a bottle)
no breeze.
and just think, when the capacity is increased, the little warm breeze is gone and sitting and watching vs North Texas at 1130 to fulfill a SEC sports network requirement.
Avoid day game. Go to only night games.

Here's my two cents:

1. If I never sit on the east side for a hot afternoon game ever again that is fine with me....so eliminate that whole half of the stadium for me.

2. My season tickets are actually 1 row from the the top in the lower bowl just under the Stadium Club, so there is usually shade there.

3. However, last year....first game of the season I did this. I sat in the West side upper deck, about 15 rows up, the first half and then went down to my regular season tickets for the second half.

While I sure felt closer to the action in my regular seats, I swear it was at least 10 degrees warmer in the lower bowl, if not more. Plus, while there was a constant breeze blowing in the upper deck that day there was no breeze in the lower bowl.

My conclusion - if it is comfort I am most concerned about on a hot afternoon game I actually wouldn't mind some of those seats in the first rows of the west side upper deck. However, I'd just as soon sit in my own seats, thank you.

Not to hijack the thread but all of these posts have me wondering how the south upper deck will be affected by the sun during day games.
