Hey man, ignore any of the sarcastic comments. This board is great because guys like you still join up and share info. There have been several parents of kids show off highlight film on this board before they got major offers. Best of luck to your son.

Glenn, don't mind this tool. Your son is legit and I know some people were surprised when he first chose Newman over other area schools. He needs on the field exposure. His talent will shine if he works hard and assimilates into his new team well.

He transferred because he likely wasn't going to be the featured back at Newman. And Newman gets plenty of exposure for their kids.. If you think otherwise you're flat out wrong.

He could have played well at Newman, but a school like that doesnt have the culture for most college prospects. Mannings don't count. They could have gone to Ridge wood and been amazing. Their dad was an NFL qb. Getting to a school where he will be challenged everyday will be good for him.

Congrats on your son being in the position he is already in. Keep him healthy and working hard. Seems like he has a bright future ahead of him.

Thank you, I didn't know that. But I know the coaches at Destrehan a (5A) school, can't wait to see his skill set in action. Thanks again for that update.

Expand on "doesn't have the culture for college prospects."

I wish your son the best of luck. He's going to be a major college prospect if he keeps up his work ethic.

You need to be around the best to be pushed to be the best. Newman will never have that culture. Hell, the guy who wrote the blindside wrote an awesome article about the sports culture at Newman.

There's where I think you're wrong. An athlete's work ethic shouldn't be influenced by those around them. OBJ went to Newman for 4 years and started at LSU as a freshman. Not an early enrollee either. So... Newman straight to starting in the SEC. I agree with you to a degree but talent and a good work ethic succeeds anywhere.

Okay so you can name one kid. Name another whose parent didn't start in the NFL?

Ronnie Vinson.

But that's not the point, you're arguing that kids need to go bigger/better football schools in order to get spotted. That's simply false. Half of the Louisiana kids in the 2013 class were from 3A or below. Coaches find talent. Newman is gonna be on the map for talent in the next couple of years with two major prospects in the class of 2015. Moving from Newman will do nothing to help Kirk to catch the eye of college coaches.

Not that I'm arguing that he should have stayed, I'm sure there were personal reasons that were the main factor in his moving.

I'm not worried about exposure. Hell look at Nola. Kids are over exposed these days. I'm talking quality reps and getting a killer instinct at practice. It comes from lining up against college prospects everyday. No one thinks Newman doesn't put out year to year quality because of exposure, especially in a hotbed of talent like 2a.

Gimme the stats that say big school kids preform better earlier in college than small school kids. LSU coaches don't think that's true. Tre'Davious White is likely going to be our biggest early impact recruit and he played in 1A for a team that didn't even make the playoffs. The competition at practice was terrible.

Killer instinct and quality reps come from the drive, will power and work ethic of the athlete. Not those around him.

That's fine that No Claibornes cousin is a top recruit. The fact is schools like Aug, WM, Evangel, Curtis take kids in and guys who were mediocre become college prospects because everyday they line up against 3 and 4 stars who push them to be their best.
