Any consolers ever try this? LINK

I have always heard those things have input lag. Not bad but enough that it can be noticeable.

Ah, that would be a problem. Combining the input lag of the adapter with the input lag of a TV would probably be close to unplayable.

And for all that "superiority" what does the PC offer that the console cannot? Mods and better graphics are the two that jump out at me.

I've had a console ever since I was 4. Now I have both. However, anyone that tries to justify console gaming being superior to PC gaming is just going full retard.
I do agree that if you like games you shouldn't let what system they are on hold you back

Lol. If only all the RAM/graphics/loading times in the world translated into the game being a tiny bit different from a spec-locked console game. I honestly wish PC versions of games got things like bigger game worlds, more NPCs, bigger battles, etc but as it stands they don't. And that pisses me off but also amuses me that consoles get equal experiences.

These are few and far between. Some mods like DayZ hit it out of the park but I have seen a lot of shite mods that promise the world and never deliver.
But there are plenty of good mods out there, besides DayZ. The Hidden, The Stanley Parable, Black Mesa Source and that's just a few I could think of off the top of my head. They aren't as rare as you make them out to be.
And let's not even get started on the insane amount of mods for games like Fallout 3 and Skyrim.
You've also got mods to enable support for new tech like the Oculus Rift, which is something the community would never be able to do on a console at this stage.
The shear flexibility of the PC is it's biggest advantage.

Seems like a preference to me then.
I agree it's a preference, but I think you are in the minority if you prefer playing a FPS on a controller over a KB/M. The only people I know who feel the same as you are those who have never become proficient at both. Anecdotal, yes, but I can't go on anything else but my experience on this point.
Having said all of that, one of my most memorable gaming experiences EVER, was playing Journey on my PS3. I like playing on every platform I can afford to.

I bought my brother a XIM3 for his birthday a couple of years back. He loved using it to play Halo 3 and Reach (single player). I'd like to borrow it from him one day just to mess around with it.
I think there is some lag, but it's not terrible.

I really doubt this given how large the console base has grown compared to PC.

How do you define proficiency? Professional PC gamers preferring KB/M?
Maybe I am in some tiny definition of gamer who is proficient at both but prefers controller but that is a silly distinction to make when it is obvious there are more people who prefer controllers.

Great thread. This is sure to change feelings and opinions.

Coming from Coyote and his oh so obvious preference, I agree

Coyote as just mad the power was out

Proficient as in they can play a game with an input device and not feel like they are wrestling with the controls at all.
If you stick a console only gamer with a keyboard and mouse, many of them are going to be fumbling to find the WASD keys and will be looking all over the place with the mouse, struggling to hit a target.
You take a mouse and keyboard only gamer and give them a controller, they're going to feel like they are driving a tank rather than controller a person and will also be struggling to aim until they adjust.
A person who has gotten accustomed to both control options will prefer one over the other and I think most will prefer KB/M.
I don't think the majority of the FPS gamers today have tried both control options to know what they prefer. They just use whatever they need to in order to play with their buddies.

The thing i'm getting at is... the gap between PC and consoles is large, really large and if you believe those shtty console APUs in next gen rigs will shorten this.. put the kool aid down.
The thing about building a PC is:
Going through a million different companies for your parts. Something breaks? Gotta figure out where that piece came from to get it repaired.
And, all games for XB1 work on XB1. From the little I've learned about PC games, not all games will work on individual PCs as there's a million different ways to set them up.

1) It's not hard to know where you got it from. There aren't that many parts plus you can get it all from one source if it really bothers you.
2)Old titles usually work but can sometimes be an issue. Not all consoles allow you to play previous generation games unless you buy them again.
3) As long as you have the minimum hardware, which isn't that hard to do if your building in the first place, then you will be able to play new titles.

It was more of a common obvious observation from my weekend. We lost power for like 2hrs, was bored and figured this topic could draw interest on a Sunday morning.
