Mingo/Montgomery didn't exactly lead the world in sacks or tackles.

This. It's not debatable that they were very fine ends, but I remember plenty of times last season where there wasn't much pressure on the QB (which wasn't completely their faults) and/or I wouldn't hear either of those names for a while.

They were very good, but it's not like their production last year is irreplaceable this year. It'll be very interesting to see who plays and who does well.

I think most here are caught up in the names. Mingo was doubled and tripled last season. Sam had about 8 sacks and I can remember 2 were the QB just falling and him being rewarded in the books with the sack.

I can remember when people thought we would never see a DT do what Dunbar and Booger McFarland did......the comes Glenn Dorsey, Lavalais, Kyle Williams, Nevis.
I can remember Greg Jackson being a stud as a FS.....then came Chad Jones and LaRon.

This team recruits great athletes and the coaching is at the top level. We did not know who would run the ball the last 2-3 years. A couple years ago, RBs were suspended then we all found out that Kenny Hilliard was a stud. Then last season, we saw J. Hill dominate with no prior snaps. Mingo and Sam were great ambassadors for LSU, but it was a reason Lavar Edwards played so much and Sam didn't start 3 games. So to say that the "production" could be better, it is not a stretch.
