I agree with both yawns and someone mentioned D Williams offers from Florida and Georgia. IF they are committable, that is about all he had of note. Arizona State was there but the other offers, not big time IMO. And once again, are the FL and GA offers committable...I'm guessing no, they are not!

I'm leaning aTm

we're in a tricky situation with him as well. We already have 1 RB commit in Varshaun Nixon and I think keeping everyone happy is the problem. There are hints that Nixon didn't like that we were still recruiting RBs. And we've also sort of put Shorter on hold for a while as we explored the possibilities of Fournette and Joe Mixon (CA).

Now that it's blatantly obvious that neither are giving us the time of day, it's just a matter of getting Nixon comfortable with the idea I think. The interview this last week with Nixon he seemed to indicate the conversation had been had that we were taking 2 RBs. So if you guys don't push while he's on campus now, I think Shorter is going to end up committing to us next week at our camp.

I'm not saying that those guys are super talented, but if we can't get another back like Shorter, those aren't bad fall back options, don't know about Darrell now though...he ran a 4.7 They said.

Good info, sir and what you claimed makes 100% sense! Shorter is by far the best available option for LSU for the other back (assuming LSU signs him). IF LF went elsewhere, Shorter becomes even more important. This is flat out bizarre that a running team like LSU signs 0 RBs the last 2 years and hasn't even offered a scholarship to a 2nd back that they actually have a chance of signing.

I don't get that at all. Do you really think Fournette will run away from LSU if it signs more than one RB? We run the ball about 40-45 times a game and look at what Gurley, Yeldon, Lacy, Trent etc have done in the past getting at most 18 carries a game.

If he was so scared why would he be looking at Michigan with that bulldozer in Green, and Alabama with their 47 backs? Another thing, if this is part of a numbers crunch, why are we offering 7000 defensive backs when we have no depth at RB.

I like both Upchurch and Brazil at RB if we don't get one, but with Shorter I was like BINGO when I first saw his film a few months ago.

Never said that, I know Leo Fournette won't runaway from LSU. I was saying that I love Shorter as a recruit. Dude is talented. I was specifically saying that if Shorter wants in I would let him in. LF will be our starter.

maybe we're pretty confident in LF. maybe we think we have a shot at another rb and these other guys would be flippable? maybe we want room for 3 in 2015?

247 is much higher on Shorter than other services. As has been said, he would be an LSU commit already if LSU would accept it, but they wanted him to earn his offer at camp. We'll see if he did that. He does seem shifty, but I don't know how great he would be taking an SEC pounding, he might be suited for a more wide open offense like A&M. I don't think he's a guy who can line up and take 25 carries in a game in a pinch like Darrel Williams probably could. Some teams were looking at Shorter as a defensive back, though I'm not sure if that is still on the table. Again, I don't base this on much scientific evidence, just my perception from watching his film and following his recruitment.

Have you seen Palelei's video? Are you aware he runs 4:4?
Benches 365?
Squats 600?
Think Michael Ford type strength but faster and MUCH shiftier.
Watch him on Special Teams destroy people on the video. Great hands, half of his yards come in the passing game.
Watch his video.

Honestly, I like all 3 of Shorter, Williams, and Palelei. And I would take any 1of the 3. Doesnt really matter to me. 1 thing we would need if we get LF is a change of pace type back. Magee will most likely still be here so that role will be his for his last season. Palelei certainly fits that mold. But, change of pace type back in the SEC still needs to be able to run inside. I think Derrius Guice(2015) fits in perfectly to be the change of pace back for LF. Is a 1 cut type back with great speed and will be in the 210lb range so he still will be able to run inside.

I would love to get 1 of Williams, Shorter, or Paleleli. Doesnt have to be a change of pace back considering how thin we will be at RB in 2 years. So, I would take any of them. I do like Williams the best though. I get he didnt run as good a 40 as people thought. But, more importantly than a 40 time, Williams is a blue collar, hard working, tough football player that would be a great special teams guy early on. Then develop into a solid RB. He kinda reminds me of Alfred Blue in high school. But I would be happy with any 1 of thse 3. Then, come with Guice as a change of pace guy in 2015 class.

Re; Special Teams: give me a 4:4 guy that is fearless and hits like a truck over a 4:7 guy that weighs 15-20 pounds more.
ETA, When Guice and Palelei played in the same game last season, it was clear who was the more explosive back, and it wasn't Guice. That game is in the beginning of Boo's video, check it out.

It might be different under cam, but LSU hasn't been too successful with change of pace backs recently
Shorter reminds me of Jalhari Gore who barely sniffed the field before transferring.

I would not take Williams because of his 40 times. he will get bigger and slower. I would not take shorter since we will have speedy and brazil. same for palelei. no go.

I love it when people like you follow recruiting for 3-4 months out of the year and now you know wtf the staff and les need to be doing...

wait wait wait, let me guess... you're ncaa dynasty recruiting classes are consistently among the top 3 on Xbox so now you're a recruiting guru...

come on man, please go back and read the ignorance you've contributed... please answer this question that a previous poster asked you

How could you possibly know more about recruiting or about what needs to be done with the RB situation than the LSU coaching staff?
