I'm sure that at the time of voting for the Heisman, voters were smart enough to know that him copping a plea was a possible outcome.

Bush's problem with the Heisman was with eligibility. They didn't take back on any grounds of misconduct.
ETA and technically the Heisman trust didn't strip him of the award. Bush volunteered to forfeit it and the trust decided to just leave the award vacated for that year.
