Understood. My business is in a secure environment which is the exact opposite of that situation. Bio scans and carded entries with multiple man traps for entrance. I have no desire to make money in a potentially dangerous environment.

Hell, I'm thinking about selling smoothies at shops setup at every cruise ship terminal in the Caribbean. Regular local fresh smoothies for the kids and add a shot or two of rum for the parents.

Your not worried about not being able to be at the business within a drop of a pin? I would be worried I would set it up leave for a few months and it would all go to hell. It would be hard for me to find someone I can fully trust that would be willing to manage out there full time.

To run a business in the islands you have to have a "partner" that's a native. The standard of living for them is below what we are accustomed to so with a decent wage for managing the location I think it could work. I'd also put my family in the business to help run the locations. A good POS system for tracking of inventory and sales would be crucial.

It's just an idea I've been toying with for a for years. If you ever see "Sunshine Smoothie Company" kiosks popping up at cruise ship terminals you'll know it's me.

Like someone said earlier, anything you can do better, faster and cheaper. I've started several businesses this way. With each one I couldn't find a reason NOT to open them. I'm not really a risk taker so I was very pessimistic in my projections. Worst one cost me $250,000 to start and now makes me 80-100k/yr. Best one, other than my primary business, makes me about 400k/yr. Both in markets that were considered saturated. I just did it better and cheaper.

Thanks, and working for youself is definitely the tits. I have tried multiple different things in the past: a cleaning crew(got up to five employees), a croakie business(I know lol), and multiple other ventures. You have to keep trying and eventually one will hit. I really have high hopes for this one, it seems like we might have a shot. Just gotta bust a lot of arse.

and most of all do it while you are young, bc the older you get the more expensive buying your own health insurance is so you have to be rolling by then. My dad is in his 60s and not eligible for medicare for a few more years and my mom is in her late 50s and had some very expensive emergency room visits due to a disorder she had. My dad pays over $3K/month just for their health insurance. Honestly, that is really the only risky thing about running your own show, the bills can pile up quickly! If you've got the balls though, pull the trigger. I definitely don't miss waking up at 7 am,hating my boss anymore.

I'm 52. The company policy for 5 people with two being extremely low risk is over $2600 a month. It's not going to get any cheaper for me.

Lease pasture land and raise cattle. Use a % of your profit each year to acquire new land through purchases or additional leases.

I really want to find something I can do working for myself to earn a living. I'm really not concerned about getting rich, just pay the bills and put a bit away.
I wouldn't mind taking a bit of a risk, but would love to find something I could start while still working my job and be able to see if it will fly before jumping all in. Always looking for suggestions on things to try.

As I mentioned to you in another thread, it's cyclical. Some of those guys make a killing. It's definitely not profitable year in and year out though.
