I noticed in another thread that people were arguing over who was better. I’m no expert but I reviewed all the Blue and Hill game highlights and Hill is definitely a more complete running back. I have been watching LSU since the 90s and I can’t remember a more NFL ready complete back that wasn’t arrested. I really like Blue as a player but he doesn’t quite have the complete blend of power, balance, and speed like Hill does. Blue is fast, has decent vision and is devastating on the stretch play but hill can do it all. Blue reminds me of a better version of Crazy Legs (RM). IMO FWIW

Blue is more of a power back than hill. Hill is just bigger. I think hill has better feet in the hole and is really more elusive and dangerous in space. Blue's physique is deceiving. He's got great top end speed, but his style is straight downhill and he looks to take on contact and finish runs.

Hill may be better at this than I'm giving him credit for, but I haven't seen him do it much. Mostly because he scoots out of traffic for big gains frequently.

Blue > JHill

Blue needs to get arrested. The best RB's are criminals.

The coaches went into last season thinking Blue was better, not that that matters or anything.

Blue was good in one and a half games last season so he's the best back on the team. North Texas had a beast defense I tell you what.

People are sleeping on Hilliard. I think he will be the stud we thought he was going to be during his 2011 campaign

What Hill was able to do against A&M, USCe and Bama in consecutive games was extremely impressive. Topped it off with good games against Ole Miss & Clemson(zero carries in the 4th quarter). Best combination of size and speed since Alexander the Great in the late 70's.

Reminds me of Anthony "A-Train" Thomas from Michigan(via Winnfield).

Blue is good but Hill has the potential to be a superstar and possibly even a Heisman candidate.

Blue vs Hill

I don't even know why this continues to be a viable topic of debate. Based on their game play to date, Hill is far and away the better back. He had epic games against premiere defenses like Alabama and South Carolina. Blue hasn't done anything comparable thus far.

How anyone can think Blue is even close to Hill is beyond me.

Blue runs in a straight line and goes down easy. Even his highlights show that.

He's good, don't get me wrong. He's fast and has great vision. He just slips past people. Perfect for the end of games when the defense is tired.

By contrast, Hill is one of - if not the - best RB in the SEC. He's big, fast, shifty, tough, and has great vision. He's demolished great defenses and will do it again this year.

Jv, broussard, hilliard, hester, ware, the list goes on. they were all touted by the fans as the next greates thing since so and so.

rbs are a dime a dozen these days. besides, ridley and addai seemed to be nfl ready didnt they? those guys actually have proven it. Why dies blue remind you of richard murphy? Blue has been hury one time. and hes actually proven himself outside of the spring game.

Blue
quote:

Played in 27 games with five starts during his career ... Has rushed for 910 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first three years with the Tigers.

Murphy

quote:

Saw action in 40 games, starting twice ... Rushed for 527 yards and a pair of touchdowns

I dont know why people dog blue. hes been nothing but an exceptional tiger. Hes a very capable back and is the leading rusher on the team. And hes done all this during a time weve had the most depth at rb. Has a career 6.59 yds per carry. And he has ran against sec defenses, none last year, but in 2011 and 2010 he did.

Everyone should check out JPDraftJedi youtube account. He has game film from many SEC players from certain games.

Alfred Blue vs Washington

Alfred Blue vs. North Texas

Jeremy Hill vs. South Carolina

Just gives a little perspective IMO

I can't be the only guy who was reminded of Addai when Blue was having good games? Anyway, as for who is better, that is pretty simple. LSU's offense calls for a very tough back who can take a lickin' and keep on eating up yardage. Yards after contact are essential to a back in Red Stick. This is why Ware exploded onto the scene and also why Hilliard blew up after Ware lost a step for whatever reason midway through the next season.

Hill not only can eat up yards after contact but he can avoid contact, run with good CFB speed and he has great vision for a freshman which is something that is essential if a back doesn't want to watch younger guys pass him up on the depth chart. I really love his decisiveness because I hate backs who stutter step their way into losses.

It is going to be fun to watch who the offense uses throughout the games. I think that Hill would be a great guy to take on fresh defenses while Hilliard could show up late in games and bull doze tired front sevens into submission. Of coarse, there are so many possibilities and the coaches look at so many more things than I do that I could guess all day long and not figure out how they will be used in this new OC's schemes.

One thing that I know for sure though...

The I-form will rock the Valley with this year's stable of backs!

Hill has more carries in 1 year than Blue does in his career. Blue is made of porcelain when he runs inside. If Blue is asked to run the way Hill does then he won't make mid season. Blue is also coming off an injury yet again. I would take Hill as a football player over Blue just on durability and reliability. Hill is much tougher physically than Blue in that he can actually stay healthy.

Blue is third behind Jeremy hill and k Hilliard.

Honestly I must have missed the games that gave a lot of a hard on for ABlue.
