No where close to the upset Serra was over GSP

I disagree. Weidman was 9-0 with his biggest wins over Mark Munoz and split dec win over Damian Maia.
Silva had 9 wins just defending the title belt.

GSP dominates people but no where near in the same fashion Silva has. Serra was a serious journeyman who had fought BJ Penn, who won TUF that was with a lot of UFC vets.

I seriously disagree. Don't forget that Serra was a bloated-mediocre LW who was gifted a decision vs Chris Lytle to even get the title shot. Serra-GSP was the biggest upset of all-time.... By a lot.

GSP was in the best part of his prime

Silva is 38

Serra was a journyman at the time that only got a shot because he won tuf

Weidman is undefeated and earned a title shot

A high percentage of fans were taking Weidman in this fight.

No one took Serra in the GSP fight. lol

Check out the Vegas odds for the 2 fights, to me that says a lot.

Weidman got a title shot because there is literally no else to fight in the me division

Silva has only been tested by 1 fighter in the past 6 years. Silva has made a mockery, I mean a complete JOKE of all 3 light heavyweights he has faced.

GSP battles out a decision EVERY fight he is in

Has it been 6 years since Chael beat his arse for 19 minutes?

Yes, but going into the Serra fight GSP was 13-1 with 10 stoppages. 7 of which were in the first round. Those wins included Trigg,Hughes, Karo, BJ, Hieron, Mayhem, Sprat, Sherk, and Menjivar. Virtually a who's who of early 2000s MMA.

And I think at the time Serra had only 1 win a WW and that was a gift.

I disagree with this. You (like most people) prefer a more exciting style with big finishes - that's what Silva has done. GSP is just as dominant but much more boring fighter to watch.

I think the only fighter you can criticize GSP for not finishing is/was Hardy. 170 has always had an insane amount of depth.
Besides, a win is a win at the end of the today, and you can be dominant without finishing.

I agree with you but people love a shocking finish like:

one hell of a lot more than they appreciate a workmanlike performance in which one fighter actually dominates another guy for 15 minutes

What pisses me off to no end about this is he dominated and humiliated these guys, including Serra the second time but can't finish Dan Hardy.

OK Silva is 38 and he's still in his prime btw

Oh, he needs more than 4 months for a rematch because he is now motivated? Really? Bad reporting, pure bs. Or Silva needs the time to amp up on the roids to help him.

I think the link is bs. If I'm wrong then Silva is looking for an angle here. Dodge him for some reason until then?

No clueless fellow

Silva gets pay per view %'s

New Year's Day show and Super Bowl weekend show are the biggest of the year every year

He is making sure he gets blockbuster money

I may be clueless, but Dana White letting this sit until then does not make sense to him, them, or the UFC.

The rematch should be immediate and let the trilogy happen then. MORE money!

LMAO..... You clearly don't follow the sport much. Your major titles are usually only defended Twice a year. A title fight every 3-4 mths would be pushing it. Most fight camps are 6-9 weeks not to mention fighters can easily be medically suspended for 60-90 days after a tough fight or loss.

I agree and personally believe GSP has faced tougher competition than Silva on a regular basis the past 5 years. GSP is very dominant. No he doesn't finish a lot, but he is a wrestler, no a striker or submission fighter so that is to be expected.

And this makes sense to me. No way a rematch happens this year. Silva even said he wanted a break for a while. I think the report may be legit.

Rematch!
