Roberts seems to be a solid backup option. I'm for keeping Vasquez if we don't get any good offers, but I'm sure Dell will find a way to include him in some deal for a player that can contribute now, even if it is just a Copeland/Novak/Gee type backup.

Looks to me like we'd have to do Lopez + Vasquez, which I wouldn't do.
Seriously? I'd deal those two for Granger in a heartbeat.
Granger's injury problems are severely overstated. A lot of players who play significant minutes has injury problems. Look at guys like Kobe, Wade, Deng (who everyone wants), Paul, Rose, Parker, Melo etc. Does everyone realize these guys miss time every year due to injury?
Granger would be a huge get and it would be a discount to get him for only GV and Lopez. Now, if his knee turns out to be a long term deal, you leave him alone.

the thing with keeping Greivis is that I just don't see many scenarios in which the FO decides to extend Vasquez past this season.

Very small sample size for Roberts. I agree if someone were to blow me away for Vasquez it's a no brainier.
But keeping Vasquez can possibly give us an mismatch advantage running a 3 guard set. Plus, It'd finally be nice to not have to hide our eyes and hold our breath when we sent in our 2nd unit.

So now we don't have a 5 on the roster.

Roberts sample size is basically as much as GV.
He played just about all of last year. And when he got minutes his numbers lined up with his 36mpg averages

I could be sold on it, as a Granger of two years ago is exactly what this team needs. Plus losing Lopez doesn't affect our crunch time lineup. That leaves us with Smiht + an Aaron Gray type sharing ~30mpg at center, though. If we could pull that off and still use that $5.5m MLE, I'd be down, but I'm pretty sure we give that one up when we use that ~$6m in cap space to make that move.
If that trade is something that we wanted to do, though, I think Indiana would jump on it.

Agreed, but I could see a contender really liking Vasquez as a 3rd guard and us getting something useful back in a S&T next offseason.

Two positives about Granger, though: he'd be the type that would want to stay here, especially if we're winning. Also, he seems like the type that won't drop off significantly as he loses his athleticism. He's a high volume 3pt shooter that shoots a very respectable 38.5%. Seems like an intelligent defender. That won't go away.

There are guys you can sign for cheap to play the 25 MPG Lopez fills. The fact that Lopez can't even get minutes at the end of games shows you his value.
