I'm thinking a higher gravity biere de garde with wlp670 for the fall, but I'm still a little undecided
I've been interested in doing a biere de garde. The farmhouse ales book is what got me curious. However, i still have a world of saisons to brew. I'm thinking about brewing a pumpkin saison to be ready around october. Probably brew that next month.
I believe zymurgy had some recipes for it.

You should try Fort George Java The Hop.
Thanks, I was going to see if someone going grab a growler of the Cascade Oblique b/w Stout so I could try that one too.
sounds like a need to find a Portland area trading connection.

When I added coffee to a beer recently I brewed up two batches of cold brewed french press pitchers and endded up only using one.
Probably had 1 cup of grounds at least in the french press and let it sit for 24 hours.
How many ounces of cold brewed coffee did you add? I was going to cold brew some, I just don't know how much to add. I want a slight coffee taste but i don't want it to overpower the stout. I'm speaking of the liquid, not how many ounces of ground coffee to make the cold brewed coffee, though that is another question i may have.

I used an 8 cup french press. I'd say that about 6 cups of liquid coffee made it into the beer.
You could always steep the grounds in with the secondary and taste every 12 hours or so.

I've been kicking around the idea of brewing a white stout for a while. I think I'll finally brew one for this event.
A buddy brewed one last month, I just haven't made it to his place to try it yet.

For my coffee porter, I cold steep the grounds in 4 cups of water for 24 hours. After filtering the grounds, there's probably 2 cups of liquid that actually go into the keg.

What size grind? Course, fine, medium?
Also, the Kolsch is ready. All it's doing now is getting pretty and clearing up, but it tastes pretty good. I'll try to get some to you tomorrow via our mutual beer mule.
ETA: If anyone else wants to try my Honey Kolsch let me know, and i'll send it with Bmoney, if he doesn't mind.

It was a friend from New Orleans that roasts his own beans who ground it for me. So, that's the long way of saying I'm not sure. Too fine would be hard to filter. Cold press would be ideal, but I don't have that ability, so cold steeping it is.

Apparently I just bought a Blichmann Top Tier System from a brewer in Houston.

Which family members soul did you sell for that thing?
Those systems are nice, but damn they are expensive.
Congrats!

Let me know if you need to get rid of a keggle or kettle or a burner.

I did have to put buying a new truck on the back burner (or top burner )

I am going to see which pots and such I like better, the new system comes with keggles (and an uncut keg) so I will definitely have stuff to sell off.
Now I just have to get it home from Houston this weekend with the rest of my family's stuff.

I'm looking on blichmanns website right now. They have some cool stuff on there. The auto-sparge is pretty nifty.
And the hop blocker

Got my yeast starter going last night. Brewing tomorrow for the first time in 2 months. I'll see if I remember how to do this.
