Do these new college bats really perform like wooden bats? I did not know this. I thought that these new bats were a more "dead" than wooden bats.
If the new bats are very close to performing like wood (except for breaking), then, the NCAA is on the right track.
If what you say is true, then, I have to point to the size of the new Omaha stadium as the problem -- it is gigantic at a time when MLB is building band boxes.
I have no problem with the bats performing like wooden bats. The problem is that the ball used by major league baseball is more tightly wound and thus travels further when struck by a wooden bat. The balls used in college baseball are not wound as tightly and when coupled with the dead bats, you have hits that would have been homeruns in MLB that are long flyballs in college baseball. That is the problem.

I don't have a problem with the new bats performing just like wooden bats, and, I agree with you that the ball used in the minor leagues should be used in college.
The college game should strive to be as similar as possible to Minor League "A" professional baseball. I understand that the use of wooden bats in college is cost prohibitive, so, make the new bats perform like wooden, use the minor league ball, and, play your College World Series in a venue that is similar to what you see in MLB and minor leagues.
So, I think you and I agree.
