The Cleveland Cavaliers reached out to the Portland Trail Blazers and offered their Nos. 1 and 19 picks in the NBA draft for LaMarcus Aldridge, according to sources.
The Blazers rejected the proposed trade.
The Cavaliers have reportedly narrowed their list of candidates for the top pick.
Duh.

Aldridge would've gone great with LeBron.

You never want to be the #1 pick unless theres a for sure guy to take there.

Aldridge is one of the few players that I think complements LeBron better than Bosh.

As a Blazers fan, I'm torn here. Our current core is good enough to become a top 4 team in the west in the next two-three years if we can add just a couple more pieces.
That said, tearing it totally down is tempting.
Aldridge for Noel+19
Batum for 2014 first++
Build it around Lillard. Sit Noel next year and super-tank for Wiggins.

I would if the Blazers even considered taking Noel

The only way it makes sense to take Noel is if we are planning on tanking for Wiggins. Obviously it doesn't make sense in any other scenario.

Read an article today that had the cavs trading Andy and the 19th pick for Danny Granger. I would love that.

Chad Ford said today that he doesn't get past the Magic. So Noel is going top 2.

You shouldn't be torn. That's not a good deal. Noel is not a guaranteed star and tanking for Wiggins doesn't insure you'll get him... not to mention that's a terrible idea.

Orlando gets either Noel (OH OLZ OH PLZ OH PLZ) or Oladipo

The Blazers are absolutely retarded for turning this down.

awful trade for indy

He's 30 now and his numbers have trended downwards for the past handful of years. He's not that cornerstone player people thought he would be anymore. Varejo actually makes a nice pairing next to Hibbert and they gain a 1st rounder.
It's not that bad of a deal.

The only downside I see for Indy is that Varejao's deal is partially guaranteed ($4m) for the 2014-2015 season if he breaks down yet again and he has a 5% trade kicker that brings his salary up from $9m this year to $9.5m.
The difference in salary between him and #19 vs. Granger is a few million, which helps them resign West.
That #19 may play into their plans to package their 1st, #23, with Gerald Green ($3.5m / 2 seasons) to clear more cap room.

Bingo. Makes a nice insurance policy as well. With the extra money, should they not be able to re-sign West, they can look for a quality SG so George can stay at his natural position.

As a blazer fan we need to move up to ensure that we get either Oladipo, Mclemore, or Caldwell-Pope. We just drafted a center last year. We have a PG and SF we need someone more athletic at the 2.

Do you believe Meyers Leonard is a starting center on a contender or ever will be?
