Hola folks! Yea I think it's late enough to assume everyone has watched the second test. Basically a tale of two matches.
The first ~90% of the match was as dull and poor as they come, turnover/knockon/penalty central. Scrums all night were pretty poor, and it was overall a pretty meh match.
The last ~10 minutes of it, however, were fvcking epic. I didn't think there was a chance Australia would rebound after getting it down to the Lions' 5m line and turning it over. I like it when teams insert wings on dead runs (especially someone as big as Xavier), but I got a HUGE problem with someone tossing a no-look pass on the 5m line. I saw that and thought absolutely over. They stole it back again and finally broke through on a great set by the backs.
From there Aussie comenced what could have become one of the most braindead moments in a long time passing back and kicking out of bounds from inside the 22m line giving the Lions a lineout to steal the game. Then comes, like the poster linked, the man with the bionic arm. That was as ridiculous a play as I've seen in a long time, I still have no idea how he stole that ball, zero clue.
But yea Wallabees took it from there, looked like they'd made it out only to lose possession with 2 SECONDS LEFT. Lions moved into essentially the same position as the week before's kick and came up just short (my british friend goes "I'm kind of glad he missed it, that Halfpenny is too fvcking good looking to also be able to make kicks like that" hahahaha).
Hopefully this weekend is as epic as it should be. Both teams need to improve their handling issues, but it should be good.
Also, the play by North of the Lions when Xavier tried to tackle him was as epic a play as I've seen in sports in a long time. Xavier goes to tackle North (imagine TO and Megatron squaring off in an open field) and North purposefully picks Xavier up and starts running with him! Obviously it didn't turn out to be a very smart move after Xavier DDT'ed him on his head, but that was fvckin epic no less.
Xavier and North are freaks

I need a rugby for dummies link. I've watched some matches but I don't understand change of possession, scrubs or the part where they lift each other up.

I thought they had a rugby team here in Mobile. They played on that large field right next to the USS Alabama (The Battleship) for years but I haven't seen anything going on out there in awhile.
seems like it would be a fun sport to play. I used to play football all the time. Played from the ages of 7-18 on organized youth teams and high school football.
ever heard of any smaller teams like that? I haven't met anyone around that plays or knows much about that team... i've been playing co-ed kickball for recreation lately... HELP would greatly appreciated

Thanks.
I think I might start checking this out more.
my guess is that if they do play in the summer, they play early on Saturday mornings.. that would also explain why I don't see games going on at any other times.
I know they don't have the big overhead lights at that park so they couldn't play at night or maybe even in the early evenings???
and the games that I do remember from a long time ago were played in the mornings... that would have been when I was like in the 5th or 6th grade going to watch those games.

I'm sitting at the Frankfurt airport right now with the national 7's side from Canada. :csb:
ETA: If anyone in the Lafayette area is interested in 7's or 15's let me know. I know the guys running it and can pass along the info.

Someone give me a team from the big leagues. I don't know how this works, but it's the only sport on and it's the only sport the bars play around here.

Well you have international squads, then there's pro leagues in Feance (Top 14)
And super rugby which is the pro league down in S. Africa, Austraila, & New Zealand
... So lots if choices

I totally agree. Rugby is a great sport.
I watched UCLA win the Sevens national championship a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for keeping us posted on what's going on with Rugby.

You guys see the Lions selections for 3rd test?
Might as well be billed as Australia vs. Wales
10 out of 15 wales, and that's even with Warburton out injured. O'Driscoll and Heaslip dropped from the lineup.
Lions XV: Halfpenny, Bowe,Davies, Roberts, North, Sexton, Phillips; Corbisiero, Hibbard, Jones,AW Jones, Parling, Lydiate, O'Brien, Faletau
Replacements - T Youngs, Vunipola, Cole, Gray, Tipuric, Murray, Farrell, Tuilagi

Yeah, I watched it live. Part of me wanted Australia to win as solidarity for O'Driscoll. But the Lions forwards really dominated that game. Corbisiero is emerging as a stud. An Italian, born in New York, playing for England.
