So The NFL Wants To Promote Obamacare

Just what I needed--another reason to despise Goodell.
This subject was on the poliboard but I can only stomach so much of that place. I remember when the NFL was just a football league. Ah the old days. Now its a PC, pink-ribbon wearing reflection of its dicktator-in-chief. Seriously, the NFL has gone a long way in the last few years to sour me on the brand: questionable "safety" rules, inconsistent and disparate fines and penalties, GOODELL-GATE , and now this.
For the record, I don't want any kind of political advocacy coming from a sports league, but given the growing unpopularity of Obamacare among even some dems, this seems like a bad decision all around and reeks of simple PC political favortism.
I look for Roger's next career move to be Obama's anus czar since he seems adept at reaming people.

Do you even know what the provisions of the Affordable Care Act are?
And how, exactly, is an idea crafted by the Heritage Foundation and endorsed by the Cato Institute something that self-professed conservatives claim to hate?

That is the most arrogant and presumptuous statement I've ever seen you make on this board, and that is saying a lot.
Any person that views his or herself as a economic and social conservative does not like this bill because it expands governmental spending and control over health care. Period. You can argue semantics of the bill and specifics all you want, but you can't say that a bill as large as this one did not expand governmental control, and as a conservative Libertarian, that is what I have trouble with.
I pay cash for all of my health care, I don't have insurance. My insurance is my sizable savings that would have otherwise been wasted on insurance. Don't tell me I should have to pay for the leaches on unemployment and the illegals flooding in daily who waste their money on frivolous crap that ends up in the landfill in a year.
Take your Kool-Aid purple drank somewhere else.

And in the response to the OP (before I saw red ) I agree. I hate to see any fan-based organization take a stance on policy and politics. They have to realize that they have fans on both sides of the fence and picking one side is not only a poor business decision but it's a tasteless lack of respect for the opposite opinion.

Apparently you have trouble with reading comprehension, so I'll go slow-try to keep up. I specifically did not get into the specifics of Obamacare. I focused on the issue of the NFL taking a position on a divisive political issue. But thanks for playing.

The individual mandate, which is the central premise of the Affordable Care Act, was initially proposed by the Heritage Foundation in 1989. It was then endorsed by the Cato Institute.
These are facts.

You're already paying for those people and other working poor people who don't have insurance. By requiring them to BUY insurance, you are lessening your contribution to their health care.
The only person drinking Kool Aid here is you.

The Sports World needs to stay out of this stuff.
Same goes for promoting a gay player that comes forward.
Fans pay for the sport and want to watch that. The "clutter" chokes that experience.

The NFL isn't taking a political position.
Encouraging people to follow the law isn't a political position. The NFL promotes preventing drunk driving. Is that taking a political position?

Exactly how is that a divisive or controversial issue? Or even a political issue? Its a public safety issue.

You are safe here on ST, take this weak shite over to the PT and watch yourself get annihilated

What? Of course it is. Encouraging people to support an act they don't agree with is political.
Everyone can agree that drunk driving presents a personal and public hazard. The majority of America doesn't exactly agree with the mandate that's been passed.
The point is, the NFL and other sports organizations that are fan supported need to understand that neutrality is the best stance officially. Let individual players make their own decisions on support, not the company as a whole.
