Realistic Off-season scenario for the Pelicans

I've come up with a realistic/dream scenario for the Pelicans and I want you to tell me what you think..All trades work with cap money.
Trades: Grevis Vasquez+Eric Gordon to Celtics for Rajon Rondo.
Celtics are looking for a fresh start, gives them two younger players with potential & fills two holes on that team.
Ryan Anderson+Robin Lopez to Rockets for Omer Asik+Chandler Parsons.
Rockets are trying to land DW12. Plus, Anderson and Dwight played well together in Orlando, also gives them a valuable back up center in Lopez.
*Draft C-Alex Len
Free agency:
Resign SF-Al-Fourqu Aminu
Sign SG-Tony Allen
PG-Rondo/Roberts
SG-Tony Allen/Rivers
SF-Parsons/Aminu
PF-Davis/Smith
C-Asik/Len
I think it's pretty realistic. Plus we have $$ to add depth. What do you think?

That adds ~$5m to Houston's payroll.

not bad but thats a defensive type sqad with no offense. 0.0% chance of winning in the western conf.

it is more of a defensive team than offensive, but defense leads to easy transition buckets. I also think chemistry on that team would be great.

Transition buckets only get you so far
You need at least a couple of scorers to run a half court offense

yeah. half court sets are key to consistency. miami dominates the reg season with defense that leads to crazy transition scoring. in the playoffs when shite has to slow down, they struggle at times. same for okc. and those are top teams.

I do agree with both of you, every contender has a go-to guy scoring option. Then again, that's why I'm not Dell Demps.

I don't think its realistic but I would trade Ryno and Lopez for Asik and Parsons in a second. I'm too drunk to calculate the cap implications but I assume Houston wouldnt financially benefit from something like this.

this one is tricky. the only thing i can see them agreeing to is us adding a draft pick or taking salary from them. they are good this year but lin is due a 9mil raise in '14. and im sure they'd like to get rid of garcia and his 6mil next year.

Are you trying to compare this potential Pelicans roster to the Heat and Thunder?
Because I would consider guys like Lebron, Wade, Durant, and Westbrook all scorers that can run a half court offense

quote:oooh noooo! me smarter than that! just saying that they depend on transition 1st, 2nd then settle and adjust when they are forced by serious teams.

If any of yall remember, the Heat actually struggled with half court offense the first year the big 3 got together. They practically relied
on translation offense.(even though they have 3 allstars)

They've gotten better but still struggle. Its just masked by the weak arse non-competing by so many teams during the reg season and early playoffs

They also have Lebron James where he could iso or drive and kick to one of their shooters.
Your lineup might average 80ppg.

Is Rondo even available? Last I heard, they got rid of Rivers and are building around him. Plus he's hurt and probably won't be ready for the beginning of the year. Why would they trade him while his value is low (ala Gordon)?

Nah, it's masked by great players having the ability to make plays. Something the squad in the OP would severely lack.

is probably no better than the team we put on the court last year with a somewhat healthy eric gordon

honestly, i think you're insane if you think anything like this would ever happen

Very realistic that a front office with as much respect and credibility as the Pelicans would trade 4/5 of their best players, totally blowing up the roster. VERY REALISTIC.
