Bump
This weekend's results couldn't have gone much better for us. Tottenham, Man City, and Arsenal all lose. Chelsea drew.

We've had some great luck this season with favorable results when we need them. We didn't need them this week and still got them. Here's to hoping it continues.

The teams that are more talented/deeper than us are giving us a chance to stay ahead of them early on by messing up - was actually hoping for an Arsenal tie yesterday - you know at least a few of them will go on a tear in the spring after being eliminated from European competition.
We need to keep taking advantage and punishing the teams we play that aren't top 8 material, something we've done pretty well with this year, and much better than last year (Southampton aside - though clearly they are playing well thus far and may be considered top 8 right now).
It will be imperative to get a few wins from the big 5. I think we only had 1 win against them last year.
But you have to like our ability so far to churn out one goal wins (at least early in the year). Those were the types of games we tied last year and lost out on two points.
I'm optimistic that if we can take care of the teams we are supposed to, and steal a few points from teams up for the top 4, then we can slide into a spot.
December will be huge - hope Liverpool gives me a 3 day x-mas present - though the schedulers gave us no favors at all on that.

Okay I think we are in a strong position and as long as we continue to keep winning against the sides out side of the top 6-8 we should continue to be there as well.
Yet in saying this I was listening to the football show on Siriusxm awhile ago and a guy was talking about a top six matrix and how if you win that you win the league.
Okay so here would be the teams in said matrix:
Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham
If you want to expand to top eight add Everton & Southampton.
So out of that matrix there are a total of 30 available points(42 for expanded). If a club takes 20 points from this group they are almost guaranteed to win the league.
So let's look at where we stand right now.
--------------------------------------------------
Arsenal - (0/6) 1P
Chelsea - (0/6) 0P
Man U - (3/6) 1P
Man City - (0/6) 0P
Tottenham - (0/6) 0P
TOTAL = (3/30)
IN GAMES PLAYED (3/6)
--------------------------------------------------
Everton - (0/6) 0P
Southampton - (0/6) 1P
TOTAL = (3/42)
IN GAMES PLAYED (3/9)
--------------------------------------------------
So after looking at we have picked up 3 of a possible 9 and we haven't played many of the teams from the top, which is a good and bad thing. Good because there are a lot of potential match up to take points away from them and bad because they could exploit us and show that we are good enough to beat the lesser teams but not good enough to beat the big boys yet.
If we continue our form with those clubs outside the top 6-8 and take 1/2 to 2/3 of the points from the clubs listed above we will finish in the top 4 if not better.
And for that I am excited ... YNWA boys

I'm pretty sure we've taken 3/6 (not 3/9) from the "matrix" so far. Unless you are counting Saints, which you shouldn't (they will drop off).

I have it broken down into the teams that truly matter (3/6) and the current top eight (3/9).
As you said the saints will probably drop, yet I do think they can be a top 8 team this year and especially with their strong start only time will tell though.
But from the teams that do matter I will say to have (3/6) and three more games to play with everyone returning to health is encouraging ... let's just hope the results are there to justify my optimism.

We have to stop dropping points to the bottom 12. That's our issue the last few years. The bottom twelve present a possible 72 points. 72 gets you CL four of the last five years.
Right now I'm less concerned with beating the citeh's and manu's and Chelsea's of the world and I'm more concerned with beating the teams we are better than and getting back into the CL money. Especially if the rumors of FSG being tight fisted in January are accurate. I hope to hell those are just rumors

Andre Wisdom drove his Porsche straight into a mud pit after getting lost on his way to his own stadium in Derby.
EDIT: Oops it has its own thread. Whatevs, I'll leave it in here too for those of you that don't bother checking the rest of the board.

Good article on Suso and his current loan spell. Will be fun to watch him once he gets back.
ETA - considering he's been playing really well, I know he could probably help us a little, but what's everyone think about keeping him there for another year? I think it would continue to help his development being one of the main guys at a club fighting to stay up, but not sure it would work without us having cover playing in Europe (hopefully)

I want him back now. I'm sick of our shite midfield.
Posted on 11/12/13 at 7:29 pm to BleedPurpleGold
well he's been playing more on the wing, so that's kind of what I'd expect once he comes back, but don't get me wrong, I think he'll be fun to watch with the rest of our attack especially if we can hang on to Suarez

I downloaded it. Not a bad watch for Liverpool fans. More of a children's story than anything.

Isn't your dad a 'Merica touting, commie hating, soccer troll? If so that's pretty awesome.
Posted on 11/18/13 at 1:00 pm to BleedPurpleGold
Yes he is ... that's why this is so monumental & groundbreaking.

Congrats, that's great.
My dad will always be a soccer hating 'Murican. My wife gave me a Pool jersey for Christmas a couple years ago, and I swear I could see what he was thinking when I opened it. No doubt, he wanted to call me a f*g.

Adam Morgan told he can leave on a free.

Always sad to see a youth player get cut loose, but he was never going to make the first team... To be honest, I'm not sure he is even Championship level....
It's a shame cause he started out with a lot of promise in the u18s, but then stalled out...

Rumor spreading that Will Hughes will be done in January. Done and dusted already.
I don't believe it.
