Johnson was out and Flanno offered nothing going forward

While I by no means think Flanno should be starting at RB, it wasn't so much that he was ineffective as much as he was flat out ignored. In the first 15 minutes he got deep into the attacking third a few times and had a brilliant give and go exchange with someone (maybe Cou?) along that right side.

I wouldn't want him even as a second string RB right now, but I don't think he was poor on his own merit against Arsenal.

that sure would have been something

(i realize now you probably meant that he had a nice give and go in the match, not in the first 15 mins, but i still think my initial reading is more humorous )

We suffered in the last game because our wing backs were completely in effective, almost non-existent. Neither of them cut in or provided any support to the MFs. In the formation we started off with not having proper wing backs is equivalent to losing two players in the middle of the park and high up the pitch. We didn't have any options. Suarez and Sturridge looked quite isolated. Also the ineptitude of our WBs left them stranded and exposed us to long crosses from the wing. It's no wonder both their goals were from long balls into the box, into the net in Ramsey's case. If we had Enrique and Johnson I'd like to think the result would've been very different. The are better at tracking back (I never thought I'd say so, but compared to the WB performance against Arsenal they are miles ahead) and would've neutralized the threat better leaving our 3 man back line to deal with clearing out any close range efforts. I still can't get over how Cissokho over committed so far up the pitch and then instead of trying to tackle Sagna (was it) and cut him off just runs towards his own goal line with his back to the ball. You never never ever do that, positioning and anticipation is everything in defence.

I agree that we need to shore up the MF but if the last summer was anything to go by we are also looking to fix our wing backs. Nemanja Matic would be perfect for the middle of the park, or Mascherano making a return. As far as good wingbacks that can be relied upon I have no clue. I have a sneaky feeling we will try Mata again, I hope we get him this time.

Can we prematurely end Suso's loan? He's killing it in La Liga and we need him.

Was just talking about this on facebook chat with one of the other Finns regulars. I'm terrified that he'll get sold.

I agree, not a Pacheco situation where he's being put in the shop window... he's gaining valuable experience..

Sterling should go in January..

That said, if a nice offer comes along... you never know

Gerrard might miss the Fulham match with a hip injury.

Its for the best. On multiple fronts. He needs to take two weeks off.

Yes. My hope is that we go 4-4-2 with Lucas, Allen, Henderson, and Coutinho. Allen at the base, and Cou at the head of the diamond. We beat Fulham. And since Rodgers is reluctant to change up a successful squad, we keep the same formation and beat Everton. And Gerrard is more than happy coming off the bench.

Liverpool: Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Cissokho, Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge.

Subs: Jones, Enrique, Alberto, Moses, Sakho, Allen, Sterling

Curious if it will be a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-2-2...

I'm sure it will be a variation. Suarez will drift up and towards the middle, Coutinho will drift toward the middle, and Henderson will probably drift more towards the right and up to fill in space.
