There aew some really good videos on YouTube. I have concluded that #6 or even # 7 lead 2 3/4" 12 ga or #2 steel 3" 12 ga is sufficient at nl room distances is sufficient through clothing and reduces the chance of overpenetration injuries in adjacent rooms.
Buckshot will simply go through clothed person and wall behind them with enough energy to harm others. Certainly would be effective but collateral damage is concerning.

I think this is the best balance between lead size and protecting the innocent. I would load that for the first 2 rounds coming out of the magazine. Hopefully 2 shotgun blasts has everyone ducking for cover.
If I follow #6 with 00, 000 or slug, that's only because I tried #6 and it didn't work. Everyone has a fighting chance to get cover at that point.
