I don't understand why everyone is saying we can just kiss the possible Microsoft Steam Model goodbye.

We all know digital downloads are trending and will be the only option in the future. This is a safer more user friendly way of cutting out the Middle Man (GameStop, GameSpot, Walmart) than just restricting DRM via no borrowing, no trading in, no used game sells. In 5 years when all games can be digitially downloaded, then you cut out the middle man, and have complete control of the prices.

no???

I don't think anyone is. It's just gone....for now.

ETA: In regards to change, Microsoft went in dry. I think they will use this moment to lube up and try again later.

It makes that game purchase an even harder decision, knowing that you won't be able to trade it in and at least get some credit if you don't like it. I like being able to download games instantly, but I'll be honest, going to a strict digital format is a bit intimidating.

I have no problem with it being done by lowering the pricing of digital first, to push out the disc product. But to force DMR and not lower prices out of the get go was wrong.
