Memory Dump blue screen when playing Witcher 2

Aight, so I got this build right? It's been perfect so far. No troubles at all. Playing everything I have at ultra quality with zero problems. Well I installed Witcher 2 a few days ago. The game scans my system and determines it can run at ultra. Sweet. No problems. But after about 10 minutes of playing, my computer gets a memory dump blue screen and restarts. It boots back up fine and I have a nice antivirus software so I know it's not a virus and it never bluescreens when playing anything else so I'm not betting on it being a hardware issue. Would my CPU overheating cause it to bluescreen like that? My card gets plenty of airflow, but I only have a stock fan on my cpu and it's in a mid tower.

Ever since getting my new VC my blue screens have looked amazingly bluer. 2560x1440 blue FTW.

Ok my two crashes are two different addresses. One is hal.dll and the other is USBPORT.sys

check and make sure all your cables/cards are plugged in and seated properly. that's my only advice; above my pay grade.

Doing that right now. I'm gonna open up the rig and get a fan blowing straight into the case then try to play. If it bluescreens then, we have an issue. If not, I'll know it's either the CPU or GPU overheating. Been going back and forth on whether to get a full tower anyway. If it's an overheating issue, this will be enough for me to pull the trigger.

Drop the settings a notch and see if that helps.
Check your drivers as well.

this. witcher 2 is hard to run on ultra on a lot of computers that normally have no problems

What card do you have?

I'm thinking it was the GPU overheating. It's hitting 75 degrees celcius and slowly rising 5 minutes into playing the game with the cover off the case and a box fan blowing straight in. The CPU is maxing out at about 67 degrees which is perfect.

Try playing other games again and maybe even stress test it. If it can play everything else then it may just be a witcher issue.

Stress test?

I'm not 100% but it should shut down if it gets too hot. You could also try reinstalling witcher

GPU stress tests show temp values and many have shutoff points u can set. If you were worried that your temp readings are inaccurate you could just feel the air blowing out of the card. do you have an OC with increased voltage? How old is the card? have you taken the cooler off or made any modifications?

I didn't run the stress test very long. About 30 seconds into the stress test my CPU was hitting 85 degrees Celsius. Apparently the stress test I downloaded doesn't test the GPU or I didn't let the test get that far. I read that if the CPU starts creeping north of 70 to shut it off. I expected a stress test to kick the shite out of my cooling system since it's just stock fans in a mid tower, but damn. Looks like I'll be investing in a full tower and some heatsink fans.

Invest in an aftermarket cooler before you do a new case

ETA: And to be honest I was always going to upgrade my case eventually. My budget didn't allow me to get a good case when I originally build the computer. The case I got was only like $20 so it's not like it's some work of art that I'm having to replace. I've got my eye on a nice full tower right now, but I would obviously get some nice fans as well.
