The one I went to today wanted $350 just for the friggin motor. I asked if that was a package price and the guy said that it was just for the motor so I just laughed and walked out shaking my head.

Find another dealer or print out the MSRP from Stihl and show it to them. Should be $230 for the powerhead and $90 for the straight-shaft trimmer attachment and any reputable dealer will sell both together for a slight discount.
