I'm not seeing any real recalls for post 2012 F150's. There are investigations about lost power during hard acceleration but that was generally believed to only be in the pre 2012 intercoolers. Most new engines have the new intercooler.

Do you know the difference between a bailout and a loan? I just bought a house with a loan. Are you telling me that I took a bailout? Don't be cheesy.
A loan that they've yet to start paying back. Well they were supposed to start paying back in 2013, I'm unsure I'd they have or haven't.

And he's got a pushrod engine that is more proven than anything ford has put out in a while

I ordered mine from a family friend at a local dealership. He wouldn't even let me get the small 8 in my 4x4.

So they have begun repaying us? I'm really not too sure, I just know as of August of '12 when I was working on stock market shite for my company they hadn't.

Well, you said so yourself, they were not required to start making payments till 2013. August of 2012... You get the point.
They still owe a shite ton of money (billions) but they are paying down on their loan like agreed upon.

5.9 billion is a fraction of what the others owe, but it's still our (us taxpayers) money.
And the only reason the potus gave any of these companies any money was so the UAW would be obligated to suck on his shaft, but that's a discussion for another board.

Lol. You mean the one with cylinder deactivation? The "proven" technology that causes a large number of engines to burn through quarts of oil almost instantly?
But yeah, putting the same engine that debuted in 1999 in your all-new-for-2014 truck is a sure sign of a market leader.

Good job presenting facts and common sense. You just got added go the NSA's watch list for talking bad about Obama Motors.

the eco boost is a awesome turbo engine. has tons of power and and good gas mileage. watch the ford eco boost test on youtube just to see what they put the engine through.
get it and it will beat any gas burner truck on the road and get better gas mileage at the same time.

Meh. Turn that shite off and it's easily a 200k+ mile engine like every other 5.3 out there.
No matter when they came out, the LS based engines are still the most reliable and longest living engines available.

No idea he you are replying to me. I get that you're new but my name might as well be Ford lover.
Downshift, remember to include a diesel clause in those claims.

With the current offerings it still might be
Not too many urea diesels hitting 200k yet in pickups.

current offerings
6.7 Cummins is Urea free and very reliable. Don't lump all of the drive train with the motor though.
6.7 Powerstroke is quickly becoming the new standard as well. In 5 years we will look back on the 6.7 Ps much like we do the 7.3. Remove all the missions and it is in a category all by itself.
Posted on 6/14/13 at 3:27 pm to Ice Cream Sammich
The new 6.7 uses urea exhaust treatment. Just started this year I believe. It's a different engine.
The 6.7 pstroke is made how they should all be made as far as physical construction. It's just still new. It's hands down the best design.
You don't hear much about the duramax because people aren't having much trouble with em, but they're on a pretty new design right now also.
I'm sure the diesels will smoke (obviously not a pun anymore)the gas burners in reliability, but its too early to say. The 6.0 was praised up and down when it first came out.

Did not know this. Interesting to see where it goes.

Good point.

The 6.7 has been out for 3 years with plenty of miles. The 6.0 had problems from the get go.

From 2011 forward.
I bought it b/c of the power and the super-quiet cab at highway speed. I'm betting that Ford got this diesel right.
Second choice was Duramax/Allison combo, but GM's interior bits and exterior trim have went to hell.
I'm not a brand loyalist. If GM builds a better diesel truck next time, I'll look hard at it. The 2014s look better, but still behind Ford.
If I was buying a truck with the 6.2 gas, it would be GM though.

I was referring to the 6.7 cummins
GM is untouchable as far as gas burner 3/4 tons go. They should have stuck with the 6.0 though. It's about as bulletproof as a gas burner can be. I know of 2 getting right at 200k heavy loaded miles on them with zero (0) engine problems other than a minor rear seal leak at 180k.
Ford has a great design with the 6.7 and has been working on that engine for a long time. It's well past time for V8 diesels to be running reverse flow heads. Automotive is lagging behind the big engine industry hard with that.
The cummins will be a better motor now that it has after treatment. The new ones should start seeing much better fuel economy than the non-urea ones.
