I just read an article on reddit about the DRM/24 hour check thing. I get it now. I don't agree with the way Microsoft is handling it, and I think they're losing quite a bit of customers due to their actions, but I understand the policy and their vision a lot more. I'm still going to get a PS4 because I'm a fanboy, but damn if this isn't some forward thinking shite. As long as digital Xbox games stay away from being $60....a killing will be made.

These people crack me up. How hard is to understand that the games won't get cheaper without competition? PC has so many outlets to buy games from that it's nearly impossible to pay full price for a game.
Their new thing is that if Microsoft goes all digital it would become the Fidel Castro of gaming and tell other Fortune 500 companies (EA, Activision, etc) who could and couldn't sell their games digitally.
Always an excuse as to why it won't work and the physical copies need to hang around for competition pruposes.
One PS4 fanboy straight up said that without physical copies there would be zero competition.

I knew you would eventually be the one PS4 fanboy to see the light but only because you are also enlightened enough to play PC as well soon.
ETA can you link it?

you're entire argument in the other thread was that GameStop wasn't going out of business any time soon because of Internet download speeds.
must I really copy and paste it in this thread?
it's hilarious with all these PSFanboys in here pointing out PSN has digital downloads Day 1.

Let me find it. I was on my phone using one of the apps.

This is why I stick to mostly classic games...no DRM, no Internet, no camera kinect crap, no subscriptions, and still alot of fun. Gamers today are spoiled....

The whole point of the DRM switch from disc based to cloud based is to kill disc swapping, scratched discs, bringing discs to friends house, trade-ins for shite value with nothign going back to developers, and high game costs. If you want games cheaper then 59.99, you have to limit used games somehow. Steam's model requires a limited used game model.

I like how you admit to never using Steam earlier and now you are an expert on it. You also ignore my linked site that has 4 out of the 5 new release games you mentioned earlier on sale for at the very least 25% off just to make your point.
CoD is the one game that never goes on sale on any system prior to release and that's because it's the largest game every year

Oh yea. It's the same as the one in the OP. I haven't read it all yet but thanks for the link.

Among other things yes.
Didn't say anything about digital downloads?
Said that about average consumers, not myself, I said I have 16Mbps cable wired into my consoles.
I don't get what I contradicted...we're talking years down the road in this thread before digital even begins to become the normal.

LOL I REALLY need to start with the OP when I read threads. I saw the arguments in this thread, browsed reddit, had some me time, and came back in here.

Don't twist words to make a point man grow up, that is so annoying. I said "I rarely use steam" not anything close to "never use steam". Good lord.
I'm downloading the Company of Heroes 2 open beta right now.

I have said this all week FWIW
and this...
quote:
>Think about it, on steam you get a game for the true cost of the game, 5$-30$. On a console you have to pay for that PLUS any additional licenses for when you sell / trade / borrow / etc. If the developer / publisher can't get it on additional licenses (like steam), then they charge the first person more. [...] If we say "Hey publishers, you limit game to 39.99, we ensure every license transfer you get 10$, gamestop gets 20$" that is a decent model... Microsoft gets a license fee on first and subsequent game purchases, compared to just first now? That's a revenue increase.
If a publisher can get more of the pie from digital they can lower the price to the consumer but to do that you have to kill the used games model.

GD I have a man crush on this guy so far

>Yeah we passed that around the office at Xbox. Most of us were like "Well played Sony, Well played". That being said they are just riding the hype train of ZOMG THEY ARE TRYING TO frick US FOR NO REASON. Without actually thinking about how convienent it would be for the majority of the time to not find that disc your brother didn't put back... [...] just simpleminded people not seeing the bigger picture. Some PS4 viral team made them all "U TOOK R DISCS" and they hiveminded.
>Everyone and their mother complains about how gamestop fricks them on their trade ins, getting 5$ for their used games. We come in trying to find a way to take money out of gamestop, and put some in developers and get you possibly cheaper games and everyone bitches at MS. Well, if you want the @#$@ing from Gamestop, go play PS4.

I get it. It's awesome. LIke I said in another thread. The PS5 and Xbox Two should be PCs with "Sony" on one and "Microsoft" on the other. Make it tard proof to upgrade and they (we) will be living the dream. A PC/console hybrid

the thing about technology is this Hog,
the moment you are content with one technology, you have already fallen behind.
the people like the guy above who says "gamers are spoiled nowadays" are fools.
Doing away with the middlemen of used games is the next step.
it's not if, it's when. with every technology.
by the time the average consumer dreams of the idea, it's already being beta tested by some development company

I have never seen a tech company lose by being the first to get there as long as the product is good.
If the product is as good as what is in the OP/Steam and Xbox is the first to get there then by the end of this gens life cycle MS should be printing money off of the One.

And we discussed this in the other thread, I don't think anyone gives a shite about GameStop.
GameFly and Red Box on the other hand is a completely different story because as I said, 70% of games just aren't worth $60.
GameFly/Red Box have to develop some sort of Netflix type digital rental service within a few years as it gradually goes more digital.
