New kid on the Block?
Biggest surprise of the day for me. I know its a 3rd person shooter and is hard for some of the FPS kids to give a serious look to,but this game looks amazing and if done right has all the makings of a fresh shooter we have been looking for.
Very cool.
Play on tablet?.....

The Division focuses on a 2001 operation called Darkwinter, which "revealed how vulnerable we've become." A trailer explained that society has become "fragile" and "complex," noting that the fact that consumers spend millions of dollars on Black Friday and makes us vulnerable to a pathogen that could wipe out shoppers by being passed along via cash.
quote:
The trailer explores a doomsday scenario where after a few days, the stock market would collapse, we'd lose power, and society would essentially collapse. Fictional legislation called "Directive 51," signed in 2007, is said to be put in place to deal with that situation. The trailer asked "what will it take to save what remains?" The Division takes place three weeks after the infection hit New York City.
Play on tablet?.....

I was confused by the initial intro but the gameplay footage was incredible.
I like how games are starting to include the introduction of tablets as part of games. Much better direction than the damn kinect.

I mean people can say that the each conferences were average or garbage (??)...but this has been the best conference in a while for games...so many new IPs and quality looking games.

The game was great and all while watching the trailer and then the point came when they started shooting the bad guys..Seeing those dmg number roll off gave me borderlands visions. Seeing the skill tree show up as well was pretty awesome. I was expecting them to walk over to the guys and loot the corpse! But, to see that the quest rewards were the guns and access to the Police armory was even cooler because it made sense with the writing and story. Big fan of that and wow the game just looked amazing. To me this is the watchdogs of this years E3. I wonder how far along they are on it.\

So who is buying a PS4?
Most likely will eventually. I'm going with the Xbox One first.

It looks fun, was it multiplayer only?

In development at Ubisoft Massive, a studio using its own Snowdrop engine, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 third-person multiplayer shooter aims to serve two genres: the single-player action game, the the massively multiplayer online RPG.
quote:
David Polfeldt, managing director at Massive, says “We wanted a lighter game than [World of Warcraft]. I’m not calling [The Division] an MMO,” although he’s aware of the similarities. The Division will not, however, feature classes. “We allow you to progress through the skill tree as you refer,” Polfeldt explains. In addition, you can respec your skills at any time, or on the fly. You’ll be able to jump between custom-built classes on the fly with the touch of a button.
quote:
Though it’s a role-playing game first and foremost, The Division also draws from the hardcore survivalism of Day Z or The Last of Us -- when your sleeper agent awakens, their belongings include just three days of food, water, and supplies. After that, you’re on your own for ammo and weapons, scouring logical locations for the right things. Need ammo? Check the police station -- but odds are its occupied by gangs that run rampant throughout the city. Maybe they’re thugs, desperate scavengers, or the KKK.
quote:
The methods of how you do that vary -- mainline quests will take you to specific places, but in the open New York City, you can opt to help citizens in need, or under attack by those nasty gangs.
quote:
Players using their mobile devices can control drones to spot enemies and assess a combat situation. That drone has its own distinct upgrade progression, too.
Polfeldt, a recent victim of a Skyrim obsession, aims to drive players to explore, discover, and take in a different kind of shooter in ways console gamers aren’t used to. Gadgets, stealth, upgrades, and a persistent multiplayer world should bring the Tom Clancy universe to life in ways the good-but-predictable Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and long-absent Rainbow 6: Patriots never could.
