My "bucket list" trip. Made reservations mid-season for all four games first Monday & Tuesday knowing I would get to see LSU at least once if they made it. Flying into KC, MO on Saturday and driving to Omaha with a old Navy buddy on Monday morning. Staying in Council Bluffs. Will be following this thread for info.
Full disclosure: after Friday night win, added Sunday night to my hotel reservations. Didn't mention this in original post...afraid of jinx. Now I'm looking good, only need two tickets to Sunday night game.

For places to eat, we had our best meal in Omaha at Upstream; Old Mattress Factory wasn't bad either.
The bar that we used to get a quick drink/meal near the arena/convention center/stadium was DJ's Dugout.

Give Old Mattress Factory (just south of stadium) a try for ice cold beer and good food.
Friendly people who appreciate LSU fans! Not sure if same manager is there, but the guy's wife was from Opelousas.

I went in 1997, Barrets Barleycor for sure, the fried pork chop sandwich was good. We went one night to the Pink Poodle, great prime rib and cheap at the time. We found some Mexican hole in the wall place for tacos but I couldn't tell you where it was at.
The rest of the time we were at the stadium. We were there the entire time and went to a majority of the games, even the one LSU wasn't playing in

I live here in Omaha...Since they moved it from Rosenblatte to downtown your choices are a little better...Old Mattress Factory is a nice bar N grill with good Bar food close to the stadium...and a couple blocks away is a great Sportsbar n Grill Called DJ's Dugout...and within Walking distance less than a mile is The Downtown Old Market area...with lots of great restaurants and Bars to choose from...some of my favorite's are O'Casual... Upstream and Siagon Surface...they actually have a Cajun style place called Jazz that isn't too bad...For great Steaks 801 Chophouse is good but pretty pricey.....cheaper good places to eat downtown are Old Chicago and Spaghetti Works....if yall have any questions about Omaha I would love to answer em for ya....Been living here since 1997...will be going to the game on Saturday...Glad the Tigers are back!

Outside of Council Bluffs in the country (about a 20 minute car ride) is a restaurant called the Pink Poodle (that's right, the Pink Poodle!). Excellent home-style cooking! You won't be sorry if you go.

I am leaving on the 20th to head to Omaha.
We are leaving the Thursday night and driving to St. Louis for the Friday night. Cardinals are playing the Rangers that night. Saturday morning we are driving to Kansas City and see the Royals play the White Sox for a day game. Going to Power and Light District the Saturday night. Catching another Royals day game on the Sunday before driving to Omaha the Sunday evening after the game. If/When LSU wins the national championship in only two games then we are going back to KC the Wednesday to see the Royals play the Braves that night. Then it will be a LONG drive back to Baton Rouge that Thursday.

First time going. Got a great deal on a hotel in Lincoln, NE which cut hotel cost in half. Will be staying close to UN-L. Any tips for staying in Lincoln in terms of places to go and commute to Omaha? Info on the UN college bars would be awesome

I live in Omaha. Some things to do - well of course the zoo which is adjacent to where Rosenblatt was, so old time LSU fans will remember it - it is one of the top 10 in the USA. Also, there is horse racing simulcast at Horseman's Park (69th and Q St), there are casinos just across the river in Council Bluffs, and if you haven't had enough baseball, there are Storm Chaser Games (AAA Affiliate of the KC Royals) from the 18th - 21st against Albuquerque. If you want the more "cultural" stuff, there is Shakespeare on the Green on the UNO campus for the last weekend of the CWS. Museums like the Durham Western Heritage museum which is actually pretty cool. We have tons of shopping, movie theaters, there are shows at the Community Playhouse (Late Night Catechism & The Wizard of Oz)...

Any military types should check out Offutt AFB for billeting (south of town)....

Gotta add the Drover as a restaurant. Great steaks

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Barrett's Barleycorn has a 95% approval rating on UrbanSpoon.
The food and drink was always awesome there, but I never knew if that was just a result of being plastered and enjoying the LSU ambience. Apparently the sober locals like it too.
