if you have read ANYTHING he has said on various forums.... and talked to him in person... you would realize he absolutely LOVES what he does and happens to be one of the best in the business at WHAT he does....
and actually IS a hunter.. and GIVES A REAL shite ABOUT HUNTERS.. and their opportunities...

The vast majority of people I serve are reasonable, and very little of my time is spent on things irrelevant to conservation or hunting opportunity. The same is true for the LDWF people dealing with this particular box-turtle issue.
I'm not as idealistic now as when I chose this profession in 1983. I've finally accepted that even if I do my job as objectively, responsibly, and competently as possible, I still have bosses that may not follow my recommendations and may direct me to do something different. But even in a Louisiana state agency, that has been rare.
