Tightest Strike Zone Ever?

Not to :beatdeadhorse: but honestly, that was the tightest strike zone I have ever seen last night. It was fairly consistent other than a few (both ways), but god dang that was one tight strike zone. It had way too much influence on the game imo. Question, does the same crew work the rest of the games for the regional or do we get a different one? I know they will likely change up the home plate ump regardless.

I usually try not to be hyperbolic but ask me a couple years down the road and I will still say that was the smallest strike zone I have ever witnessed unless someone has one the size of a tin can. We bitch about umps every game, but yesterday was warranted (both ways from a balls/strikes standpoint). Both teams were getting squeezed.

From other things I've read that umpire is a big fan of balls so that may have had something to do with it.

Question, does the same crew work the rest of the games for the regional or do we get a different one?

Did you see the mention that the umps were spotted getting drunk together at their hotel till 3:30am Friday night/Saturday morning?

I'd love to see that ump call vandy's closer.

Not from what I saw. The ump wasn't giving Nola the low strikes, but he was giving the same pitches to the other guy.

Any other Umpire--- behind home plate &
Nola would have eaten their lunch in
The First inning. They may have scored
One run at most.

Nola still gave up 0 earned runs.

Tightest strike zone ever, worst color commentator ever, weakest regional ever....
Sure were a lot of historical firsts!

That whole crew last night sucked. One of the worst games overall I have seen called in over 25 years of going to the Box. Sam Houston got shafted on a couple of calls as well. Just an overall piss poor crew. I bet those guys will never be back.

I've been thinking about this quite a bit today. It wasn't Nola's fault.
He's been lights out all season. Suddenly he comes up against an umpire that doesn't give him the corners like he has gotten all season. Only a perfect down-the-middle pitch will do.
So he presses, aims for the tiny strike zone. Of course, the batters can find a perfect down-the-middle pitch. They were smoking them, which led to multiple errors in the field, uncharacteristic for this team.
So it was the perfect storm of crap, perpetrated by the terrible ump. It's a credit to Nola that he figured out how to pitch around that awful strike zone.

you do know that LSU commited 3 errors in that inning and that all 5 runs were unearned, don't you?
