Maybe he'll finally be used properly.

OK! Whatever dude! He went through 2 DC's and never got close to where he was drafted! We got screwed when we made him put on weight!

maybe he'll be as useful to New England as Sullivan was after we traded him there

For what it's worth, they are looking at any interior d-lineman that has any talent what so ever at rushing the passer. Despite what the highlights show, Wilfork is way below average at rushing the passer.

What's below "way below average"? because that's what Sed is.

This is hardly newsworthy
Just the Patriots doing their due dilligence. Like the Plaxico workout last season.

Sed Ellis. He wasn't good, he wasn't bad. He just was.

Wilfork is around 340 pounds (at the least) and, outside of a couple of times a season (and apparently one playoff game every single year) he is just not capable of getting the the QB. I'm not saying Sed Ellis is any better than him, but Bill is looking for any sort of pass rush. We grabbed Tommy Kelly off the scrap heap, so you know it's a little bit desperate.

I think any fan that actually has knowledge of the game and paid attention to him knew Wilfork was great at taking up space and stuffing the run but couldn't move faster than pubic hair growing.
The pats definitely need someone to come in on pass downs for Wilfork, but if they find someone other teams would be smart to do what the pats do and run hurry up to keep him on the field.
And Ellis was good at nothing and poor at most things. He tried to claim he was taking on most of the double teams when he was playing the 3 tech and that was far from the truth. I was watching closely on many plays what our line was doing and Ellis was getting handled one on one a lot in the run and pass game.

8. When the Patriots had free-agent defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis in for a workout last week, it served as a reminder of the team’s trade with the Saints in the first round of the 2008 draft. That was the year the Patriots entered with the seventh overall pick, which they acquired from the 49ers the prior year, and traded it to the Saints along with a fifth-round pick in exchange for the No. 10 overall pick and a third-rounder. The Saints used the seventh overall pick on Ellis (6-1, 307), who wasn’t viewed as a prototype fit for the 3-4 defense New England was running at the time. Meanwhile, the Patriots nailed their pick with linebacker Jerod Mayo, so five years later, it’s safe to say that the Patriots got the better part of the first-round swap. But Patriots third-round pick Shawn Crable was a disappointment while the Saints used the fifth-rounder from New England on guard Carl Nicks, now one of the best players at his position in the NFL. So the trade ultimately worked out for both teams, even though it wasn’t the way either of them probably planned.
ETA Im really excited about Armstead and Kelly was a decent signing, i think he has much more pass rushing ability than Love of Deaderik ever did.
