We have an 8 week old lab pup. We are worried to death about the swimming pool at this point. She loves to go look in. Worried she's going to fall in. No chewing "yet".

We have an almost 8 week old lab pup, he jumped in the pool the first night we brought him home at 6.5 weeks
My brother was in the pool yesterday and taught him to swim. Never was scared of the water at all. Pretty cool

Never. Mine was a little shite no matter how many half eaten dress shoes I beat its arse with.

I feel your pain.

About 25 years ago I had a young male chew a hole in my hard wood floor. Yes, he chewed a hole through my kitchen floor. After that, he chewed all but one of the outlet covers off. Once done there, he chewed the mullions out of my window and proceed to jump out.

I got him a playmate a week later.

He turned out to be one of the best hunting dogs I have ever owned. Incredible companion and friend. I like a baby when I finally had to put him down.

I got my lab to swim with me an all of the sudden I'd come home and he be swimming by himself. My dad would get pissed bc his hair would clog the filter eventually. So be weary of that.

Short CLS;
One day I put a towel over my head to see how he'd react to someone he didn't recognize. The gate was by the pool. he went crazy.

I lunged at him and he went to plant his back feet (he was jumping up and down before)and fell in the pool. Wish I had recorded that. Though I didn't know it would happen.

We won't let him go in the pool really, we didn't with previous dogs, for that reason

I would say it depends on the dog. With my lab we began letting it stay inside alone for a couple of hours at time when he was about 15 months old. I work at home so he stays inside a lot during the day.

I will also say if I am gone for 8-10 hours during the day he will still tear up things outside. Not sure if it is boredom or separation anxiety

Mine only gets to come in the kitchen. Nothing to eff up in there. He is very good about staying in there, even overnight with no kennel.

He still eats shite in the backyard at three

I just depends on the dog. We could leave our's (he's 2 now) out at 9 months but he's never tried to tear up anything.

I got a 4 year old male yellow lab that I leave alone in the house. I spent a good bit of time training him as a puppy and hes never chewed the furniture or had an accident in the house. Hes never even digged in the back yard. And I know it sounds crazy but I can actually make him pee on command and he will hold it till I return to let him outside.

His only problem is he likes to steal socks and then play keep away viciously. Doesnt even want the sock just likes to know that he can get it and it pisses me off.

I always leave him with a raw hide bone and he has never done anything wrong other than maybe puke when hes gotten a lil sick.

Great Dog ...

Tell me about it. I have had to put 6 down over since college. It never gets easier. I generally have to take the day off because I am such a wreck.
