BC you were facing shite pitchers.

ULLLLLL fans will never accept that their players, with a couple of possible exceptions, would never have been given a second look by LSU during the recruiting process.

We all know LSU holds the advantage.. but trying to diminish ULL's offensive numbers just because we play in the Sun Belt and not the SEC is reaching a tad. It's not like the entire Sun Belt's offenses are also in the top 10 in the nation like the Cajuns are.

You do realize the 2013 sunbelt ERA was 4.50.
With the lowest era being Florida Atlantic.... 3.63

I'll let everyone draw their own conclusions.

Junior right-hander Ryan Eades (8-1) will start Friday’s game on the mound for LSU, while Jackson State coach Omar Johnson, who directed JSU to the SWAC Tournament title, will counter with either sophomore right-hander Alexander Juday (7-4) or junior right-hander Desmond Russell (3-0).

“We want Ryan to go all nine innings,” Mainieri said. “We will probably extend him longer than we have all year because we need to save our bullpen. I hope we only play three games this weekend because there is a possibility to play five. You have to have as many arms as possible, and it’s the reason we are pitching Ryan first. We need him to pitch for as many innings as possible on that first day.”

Serious question. Can ya'll explain to me why Eades starting Game 1 is such a big deal? Are Glenn, Eades, and Nola our only good pitchers?

You're comfortable with brent bonvillain starting with the season possibly on the line?

My guess is we are trying to lock going 2-0. I can't see any team in this regional beating us two games in a row with any of our staff on the mound on Sunday.

I trust Mainieri knows what he's doing. Maybe some others should trust him too?? We will be fine.

That's the right strategy imo. I would go Eades, Nola, then Newman. If Newman can give you 5 good innings and we have a full bullpen to go to then we are set.

More simply....if our bats come alive this weekend we are set

Why not be if you have McCune, Newman, Lamarche, Berry, Bourgeois, and Cotton available.

Honestly I'd be equally as confident starting Bonvillain or Newman in game 3 TBH.

This regional is full of midweek games. And whoever we play on Sunday will be on their 4th starter with a depleated bullpen.

Why in the frick are people freaking out about throwing Newman on Sunday?

All these teams are clownshoes. We faced stiffer competition last week. If Newman can no-hit Arky through 4 and Bonvillain can beat Vandy, why wouldn't they be able to beat ULL or Sam Houston's 4th starter?
