Home Depot sells some stuff that specifically says it kills Dallisgrass. I went and looked to see if I still had some but couldn't find the bottle. It'll kill it and everything around it so there will be brown spots to look at. I do mine in the winter usually

MSMA or depending on how big yard is or how much it is, put on a latex doctors exam glove, dip your fingers in straight roundup out of the jug, liberally apply it to the shaft of the grass.

Pretty much got rid of all of the dallis grass in my yard by digging it out. After a rain, used a small shovel and dug out the clumps along with the roots. Don't have to dig deep. Actually, just use the shovel to slice the dirt under the roots and the clump pulls right out. Does not leave a big hole and good grass takes over. Took forever the first time but pretty much have it under control now. Whatever you do, do not let the long stems develop seeds on the ends. Pull out all of the stems whenever you see them growing until you can dig out the clumps.
This is a grass and not a weed. Roundup will kill it but it will also kill all of the other grasses around it. Weed killers will not stop it.
Word of advice, if you ride a recreational vehicle in a field with dallis grass, be sure to not ride the vehicle in your yard until the vehicle has been hosed off of all of the seeds that may have become attached to it. Remember to not wash the seeds off in your yard also.

quote:I think you're confusing grass and broad leaf with "weed". Grass, in a garden, for example, is a weed. St. Augustine in my yard is also a weed.

Mow more often.
I had the same problem. My whole yard was FULL of weeds like this. I mowed every three days for about three weeks, and it is finally under control. Now its just a bunch of dead spots where the weeds once were.
ETA - I sprayed with a very light concentrate of Nutsedge killer.

Spray it with round-up. When it's good and dead put some sand down.
This or 2-4d....doesn't damage the Bermuda if you have it.

2,4-D don't kill grass.
You can still find MSMA. just have to know where to look.

There is a withdrawal period for pastures/grazing/hay. There's a tee tiny trace of arsenic is why.

Only label for it now is in cotton, not much cotton around, hence hard to find.
