Nice business practices by MLB.COM

A couple of weeks ago, I signed up for a 2-week free trial of MLB.TV. Since yesterday was the last day of the trial, I canceled it last night before it auto renewed today (and no, they don't give you an option to not auto renew at the end of the trial when you first sign up). Got an immediate confirmation e-mail from MLB.COM that I had canceled the subscription, as well. However, I log on to my online banking this morning and see that my checking account had been charged $114.99 by MLB.COM. How the frick do you charge me after I canceled? Unreal. This also happened to overdraw my account, so yeah, even more wonderful.
E-mailed their customer service and got this response:
Really? First of all, I didn't ''purchase'' anything, it was a free trial, and second of all... ten business days to be notified of the outcome? Wow. Heading to my bank after work tomorrow to see if there's any chance at all that they can help me out with this issue.
Anyone have any stories of getting a bullshite charge from a merchant?

You will be notified of the outcome of your request by email within ten business days.

Business is always right. You never should've signed up for a FREE trial. Personal responsibility. Everything is your fault. Only you can be held accountable.

technically you purchased it with a free two week trial and an option period.

Your problem for cancelling at the last minute.

No, not really. The cancellation is supposed to occur instantly, not 24 hours or so to process. It's just shady garbage that MLB.COM is trying to pull. I'm not the first one it's happened to.

Get a credit card and give them that when signing up for stuff like that. Then all it takes is bringing the confirmation email to your bank and disputing the charge. Then you can let them deal with MLB.com.

Where does it say this in their policy? Or did you just assume so?
ETA: If I don't have $115 in my bank account I'm certainly not going around signing up for free trials on that account that can be charged if I forget to cancel in time.

What is your id and password for the MLB TV?

I haven't seen anything that suggests the cancellation should be anything longer than immediately.
This is what the e-mail said literally right after I confirmed to cancel...
If it wasn't supposed to be instant, I think it would have been stated as something like ''Your request to cancel your subscription is currently being processed''. Something along those lines.
And FWIW, the auto renewal date never slipped my mind. 5/27 (today) was the renewal date, and I canceled at around 9 pm last night. Simply put, I shouldn't have been charged.
