I think you are an idiot if you really believe that.
Rhymes needs to be moved UP in the order

Like 13 but they've all been in the last month or so it seems.
I'm gonna call the over on that number. No way it's just 13. Not being a nega-tiger. But he hit into 3 today alone.

I think Rhymes will be fine. And, we need him if we're going to go to Omaha. I also think that him seeing the bench for one game isn't the end of the world. At least pinch hit for him in the 8th or 9th if he's having a terrible game. Or, make him freaking bunt when he hits into 2 double plays. Frick, him bunting a 3rd strike foul and getting out is better than wasting Katz going 3/4 by having Rhymes double him up after all 3 hits.
One at bat on the bench, or even a whole game, might jar Rhymes and he could respond well.

The big question that lingers is why McMullen is not an everyday outfielder. We all have seen Foster struggle out there, but McMullen has good speed and experience there. Seems like the best balance would be this lineup:
McMullen RF
Rhymes LF
Bregman SS
Katz 1B
Ibarra 3B
Jones 2B
Moore/Foster DH
Ross C
Laird CF

If we don't win the NC, I'm willing to bet the house that our season ends on a Raph Rhymes DP.

And for the love of God, bunt him every time a guy is on first with less than 2 outs.
as terrible of an idea of hitting him ninth is, this may actually be worse.

quote:nah. Katz went 3/4 today. Rhymes followed every one of those hits with a routine double play grounder. Frick, forget Rhymes. We don't bunt enough at all.

Today we had the leadoff runner in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 9th innings. We sacrificed that guy over zero times with the next batter. That's ridiculous. You've got to get that guy on 2nd with one out. We could've had 12 outs with a guy in scoring position if we knew how to bunt. Instead, we had zero at bats with a guy in scoring position with less than 2 outs. That's unacceptable in a game that we had 11 hits.

They did attempt a bunt once, but the catcher made a great play on it and got the lead runner.
That said, I agree with you.

That is good strategy that maximizes expected run potential. I would be fine if we never bunted, except for maybe extreme scenarios like late in the game and we only need one run.
Almost every hitter on the team has an OBP above .380 and you want to just give away outs?!

Not sure you mess with the top 7 spots in the line-up at this point. Kinda think a top 2 or 3 national seed season is not something you change up too much. It's more a question of execution.

Like agains Ole Miss when Katz was on first with 1 out in the 8th? We sure do have some reactionary fans...

People are still seriously talking about moving Raph down or sitting him? Seriously? One of the best hitters in LSU history? SEC player of the week last week? There are no words.

Rhymes batting #2 might work well....
