Not trying to argue, and I see where you are coming from, but because anyone being able or not being able to use it is not the point.
Neither is it in regards to any or no statistical difference in anchoring vs. non-anchoring.
It allows players an extra handicap to go to for putting bad. The USGA and R&A want to limit those handicaps, making golf played a specific way. If people don't like the rules, they should quit or just break the rule every time.

Seems like if you putted normally, and then went to some anchored stroke, it would be like learning to putt all over again. But these guys are doing it in anticipation of nerves, or yips, as a way to deal with the way a normal putting stroke can be debilitated by such.
For this reason, I think it is good it's a gone pecan.

He's not going to be able to respond to this with his head up Tiger's a-hole.

A lot of golfers have tried anchoring the putter but didnt have success with it. Phil comes to mind with the belly putter. I've tried using a long putter but didnt have any touch with it.
But the guys will adjust. Hell...guys like Adam Scott can use the same putter and stroke...but just place handle an inch from chin and lock his elbow out and swing like pendulum.

No. I actually agree with the ban, I just wish the usga would address the ball and the driver

I think this decision might cause some players to lose lots of money. I expect there to be actions taken by the players to stop the ban.

Would Adam Scott have won the Masters with a standard putter?

I agree with the ban, you should not be able to anchor a club to your body.

so the rule can not be enforced on Tour but some players will have to change putters for certain events such as the US Open, British Open, and Ryder Cup?

new drivers, irons, shafts, and balls have done much more damage to the game then the anchored putter has.
Absolutely.

The PGA Tour hasn't said what they're going to do. They oppose the ban as well, but will likely just go along with it. Same thing the PGA of America is doing

This should have been addressed way before any kind of ban on the anchor putter. The driver and particularly the golf ball are ruining the game at the professional level in my opinion. All tour level golf is now is a putting contest.
Hardly any course strategy is utilized. Get up to ball, smash it as hard as you can, find it and smash again.
The modern equipment is making many great courses obsolete and something needs to be done about it.

Not a fan of the ban - anchored putters have not hurt the game's popularity.
Different types of putters = more $$ making opportunities for club designers, and more options for players.
Money and choices are good things for golf.

4 of the last 6 majors were won by people using anchored putters
so tiger would have won at least 3 of those if it werent for the cheaters....
